<<Clearly, last summer's decisions to part ways with Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka and Brendan Shanahan didn't help. >>

Zip,
you act as if there were not problems with these three players during their last year at MSG. If Jagr would have played even a portion of the first half of the season as he did the second, he would have hit his points mark and contract situation would have taken care of itself.
--Shanahan did have leadership but slowed down during a full year. and i think you even mentioned about his slow skating.
--Straka frustrated us with his pass-before-shoot actions on numerous occasions.

this year it was believed that we'd have a hard-working team with the scoring spread around more and Zherdev finally breaking out. we started that way and for some reason it stopped and everyone tightened up.

On one hand, you're talking about clearing cap space (good luck w/that when 25 of the 30 NHL teams will be attempting the same thing) and in the next breath you're discussing signing Marion Gaborik, Daniel Sedin, etc.

Good plan. Even Sather has more of a clue than you Zippo.

Would be nice to have Mark Streit on your team now, wouldn't it?

Buy out Redden's contract, I can't watch another second of him on the ice. He was signed as a PP quarterback, he didn't do his job.

Those are the facts... buy him out.

Redden was also completely to blame for that last goal. I didn't understand one bit clueless Micheletti saying "that's a save you need your goaltender to make". Redden backed in on a one-on one play, gave him way too much room.. then froze and bit completely on Federov's move. He gave him the perfect shooting lane through is legs screening Lundqvist. Lundqvist didn't even see the shot.. he reacted after it was past him.

Unfortuantely we're stuck with this contract though, I can't see how simply buying him out is feasible without major cap implications.

Redden, Avery have to go.. Drury,Naslund and Gomez are going to be tough to trade.. The prospects for next year don't look good because it's going to be tough to retool this team.. Jagr needed to stay instead bringing in Naslund and Redden. This team lacks speed and toughness.. They need both but Avery and Torts can't coexist....Andropov is a keeper...

The Rangers wish they had Denis Potvin. Two Norris trophies and four Stanley Cups. He's no Wade Redden but than again not everyone can make $7 million dollars a year and do nothing unless of course you are employed by the Rangers with one Cup in 70 years. Congratulations!

The first thing the stRANGERS should do is to do what was sucessful for them in winning their only Cup in 69 seasons.... that is to buy the current Stanley Cup winners and make the stRANGERS, like they did in 94 when the stRANGERS were on their 56th year without a Cup, and they bought the Dynasty Edmonton Oiler team !!!!
Thats the only way the Cursed stRANGERS could win again.
Congrats on starting your 70th season with one Cup and you 70th season of early Tee Times!!!
