Full story: Newsday

It's only the first weekend in July, and the Rangers' roster from early October has been shaken and stirred like a frothy cocktail served up at a beach house in the Hamptons.

You'll love how hard the guy works and how he can't score to save his life.

The sixth spot on defense? Who has the fifth. I seriously hope you aren't dumb enough to put Gilroy ahead of Sanguinetti and Sauer when the kid hasn't even played anything other than college hockey.

Um..... er..... yeah.... what an amazingly better roster!!! Where's that Stanley Cup.

Gaborik's going to pass himself the puck and be the 1st player in NHL history to record a goal and 2 assists on the same play.

Avery will be busy checking himself out in the reflection of the glass.

Tortorella will be throwing water bottles at Donald Brashear, while Brashear responds by trying to elbow Torts in the head while he's not looking.

Higgins will be scoping out the chicks in the 1st few rows of MSG, while Chris Drury continues to lead this team.... straight into the ground.

The is the same pathetic Ranger team as last year.

Book it!!!!!!

If you're going to mock Ryan Smyth, shouldn't you at least spell his name right?

There's an extra E for "Error", signifying the huge error it was to trade for him for what amounted to a 3 week rental...and then pay for it with the embarassment he dished back at them.

Hey j@ck@$$, the Rangers got 7 playoff games (go ahead and Google NHL Playoffs - we'll wait since you ARE an Islander fan), Higgins and Montreal's best D-Man prospect for their investment in Gomez.

For their investment in Ryan Smyth the Isles were left with - you guessed it, that same sh-art in your pants you got when you heard they drafted goalies with consecutive picks last week.

Party On Garth!!!!!

actually the rangers got alot more than 7 playoff games with their investment in Gomez, But yeah, what they didnt get was the embarassment of a player basically running away from an organization as soon as possible like Ryan Smith did.

Lets not get ahead of ourselfs here... A better team? How? I agree that last years team was poor, inconsistent and usually anemic offensively, but Gaborik didn't play last year, what can we really expect from him? The best move to date was getting Higgins, but where is the Rangers scoring coming from? Dubinski is a great might be... but this year he has to produce big time or else goodbye...Who else do we have that we can count on? I'm not so sure the Rangers problem doesn't lie in the Captain... I like Drury presonally, but what is he? He is not a natural scorer... or great setup guy... he is a decent two way player, but captain? At the time of this writing we have 4 defensemen.@ great kids in Staal and Girarde and two wanning guys in Redden and Rosival, thereafter alot of questions. Is Sanguinetti ready? Del Zotto? Potter was good I can see him as a 5 or 6, but there are serious holes here. I would have never let Sjostrom go... he was our best player for the money. Those who say he didn't score that much, well he got lots of 3rd and 4th line ice time... occasionally more, but not on a consistant basis. Callahan looks great at times and I like the kid alot, but after him where is this great hope? btw I though Paul mara played very well for us last year, would like to see hime back, he is well worth the money. Maybe this hobey baker dude will be worth something, but our last one wasn't, keep that in mind. Lastly my whole attitude will change if the Rangers get one guy available. I acually believe this is the guy between a good season and a great season. He is not the best goal scorer, not the greatest setup guy, not the toughest guy on the ice, but i think one the best and consistant all-a-rounders. Brendon Morrow! Get me Brendon Morrow and I might forgive Slats for signing Brashear rather than Orr.

Again, if you're going to use Ryan Smyth in a criticism, you should learn how to spell his name right first.
