They need to protect Lunqvist, without him they are a 500 team.

They should have gone after Ovechkin too. He was going out of his way to crush Staal. I know the NHL gives you a lifetime ban if you try to hit him but somebody should have popped him. The first shot on Lundqvist by Nylander wasn't much so you let that go but the next one could have caused some major damage. Definitely can't let that slide.

That would never happen. Ovechkin would hit back.

As he should. BTW Ovechkin is a tough kid but please don't tell me you think he's the second coming of Bob Probert.

It's called making a statement. Staal is a big boy and can protect himself but when you come out flat then let Ovechkin throw some big (clean) hits on one guy and then you let your goalie get run twice (really once) you aren't saying much.

I agree Orr should have given someone a serious smashing that night...thats really discouraging and upseting to see that happen to Lundquivst and not a thing happened to anyone, penalty or a Ranger handing out a beaten.

Good blog. I love the Rangers but there is not one defenseman in the organisation that will do such a thing. Not one. The Rangers should of gone out and gotten the likes of a Sheldon Surray. Now that guy gets in your face and backs it up. That department in rescent Ranger years has been vacant. The last guy I remember that would hit you over the head with the goalie net if it was called for was Dale Purinton. Since then, nothing.

Gee if I was coaching this team we wouldn't discuss how things should be done. We lost the Cap game and should have exacted some revenge rules aside - a message needed to be sent.

We also wouldn't have 10 midgets and voros and orr as forwards and 6 of the exact same defensemen on my team. Renney is a nice man and good at X's and O's and would make a great assistant coach. That said this team has been exposed as soft, small and without much passion.

Trades can be made for the type of players you need. Unfortunately the GM lives somewhere in western canada and doesn't see many of the games.

So this is how it will go and Renney will continue to coach this team right back to .500 and struggling to make the playoffs.

Im a Ranger fan but they are soft. They should ask Jeff Beuekaboom to come out of retirement or Darren Langdon! They stood up for their teamates!

Orr used to be a decent enforcer with the Providence Bruins. When did he turn into Ghandi?
