Wow. The softest player in franchise history, who created the culture of losing, then escaped, is taking shots at the Panthers. Give me a break.
LOL soooo funny,I mean I guess you can call a guy who playes and scores the game winner after being hit in the mouth by a coach the same day and has 70 stiches in the mouth soft. And I 'm sure this team was a year after year a playoff contender before Jokinen came right?? And his 30 something game winning goals created this "losing" culture cause now this team is headed to the stanley cup finals,,,,?? |
During his time here Jokinen was the Captain. Maybe he is a decent offensive talent, but he was the worst captain in NHL history. Never once did he lead the locker room the way guys like Messier and Yzerman did. |
The "worst Captain in NHL history"? You are an a ssh ole. |

He struggled with being a leader without a doubt. But he was clearly one of the best players in franchise history.
Everyone just relied on him too much and there was just too much pressure for him to carry the whole team. Is he a guy that can carry a team on his back? Obviously not (evident by his comments in the article). Is he one of the top 25 centers in the league in scoring? Without a doubt. And this team is obviously missing that now. He was durable as hell too when he was here, playing in 567 games as a Panther (in 7 yrs, he missed just 7 games...playing 82 games each the last 4 yrs). Looking at the current season, his jabs at the org are completely valid. Glad to see Olli is still succeeding elsewhere and he's being appreciated. |

The right thing to say is, "I would like to thank that organization for sticking with me and allowing my career to blossom. We didn't make the playoffs when I was there, and some of that clearly falls on shoulders, being the captain. There were a lot of changes during my tenure there and it seemed like we were always a team in transition, but I did the best I could and came to play every night. I'm sorry to the fans of S Florida that we weren't able to win a cup for them"
You don't take the low road. Ollie was a complete bust in LA and Long Island. Regardless of who (Keenan) got the best out of him and made him a VERY wealthy man, it was the Panthers organization that stuck with him. |

He's succeeding? He is on another losing team and will miss the playoffs again continuing to be the player with the most games to not play in the post season. Much happier with the B&B boys.

AMERKS SPEARED BY MOOSE, LOSE FIVE STRIGHT
(Rochester, November 7)... The Rochester Americans dropped a 5-1 decision to the Manitoba Moose tonight at The Blue Cross Arena. In the game Kenndal McArdle extended his point streak to four games, during which time he tallied four points (1+3). The loss drops the Amerks to 1-10-0-0 on the season and 1-5-0-0 at home. Another Great Team -- They are 1-10 and those players are what we have to look forward to. JUST A PATHETIC ORGANIZATION If I were Rochester I would rip up the contract that they signed with the Panthers and beg them to take there players back. |
Yeah. I stand by my comments. And if you want to resort to name calling for someone having an opinion, then you're an a ssh ole as well. So what's your argument for opposing my comments - other than simply calling me names? Do you disagree with me that Jokinen wasn't respected as the leader of the locker room? Or that he could never light a fire under the players? Or that he himself was soft - and as such the rest of the team followed his lead? I watched it happen for seven years, my friend. |
Soft is the defenition of this team without him. If Jokinen created the culture of losing then why are we worse off without him? Here's the truth, he didn't ASK to be Captian, he was made captain and the team never went out to try to replace him or even give him help. What he did do was become the face of the franchise, the leading scorer, their second most likely to drop the gloves, their ambassador to the community all while being asked to motivate a talentless team. I find it amazing that the man actually responsible for killing this franchise gets a promotion (Martin) and Jokinen gets blamed and then traded. Thats awesome. Even better is when fans like you think this was all his fault. Anybody want to take bets on which team does better this season? Phoenix or Florida? Anybody want to take bets on who makes the playoffs first. |
Yes, and while he's making those comments you suggest, perhaps he can also thank the organization for stabbing him in the back the minute they completed the trade. He can thank them for sending out emails to prospective season ticket buyers, accusing him of disappearing in the clutch, of being a cancer in the lockerroom, of being a selfish player, etc. Yes, he should acknowledge the wonderful contribution that Jacques Martin made to his career! |
And Panther fans are happy to have Jokinen deserted too.
The Jokinen dissapearing act will be shown at "crunch time" again......for those that missed it....HAHA

It's called taking the high road. In sports one can never be sure where they'll end up and who they play for. Crossing paths with former coaches, GM's, etc is certainly a possibility. That can lead to more problems down the road. I'm not saying those points you've made, whether true or implied, aren't low. But why stoop to that level? His career with the Panthers involved a lot more than Martin. I like Olli. I wish they kept him and dumped Martin. |
I think bigger problem is when the organization fails to take the high road. That leads to even bigger problems down the road when the team tries to sign free agents, but can't because agents and players are wary about an organization with NO record of success, coupled with a record of backstabbing former players once they are gone. Olli's future reputation will be more a factor of how he plays for Wayne and the way Wayne ends up viewing him. Other teams, GM's and coaches will look at that more carefully than the comments coming out of a weak franchise with a record of such problems. The backbiting that followed Luongo's departure has really hurt the Panthers more than the organization would care to admit and the firing of Keenan did little to resolve that. |

Fake post. Written by a coward. |

I think you've gotten softest player confused with Weiss, Olesz and the rest of the Florida offensive line-up. Jokinen is an iron man and always has been. He played through injuries and was often the only guy who could consistently score. What have you today without him? Let's see. The Panthers have one of the worst PP and PK's in the league. They are dead last in the standings. They have NO LEADER in the lockerroom since no one wears the "C" or wants to be Captain. Most of what you said about Jokinen is absolutely hogwash, and if you don't believe it ask any other player or fan around the league. They'll tell you who the real loser is and he's sitting in the GM chair at the BAC. I would believe Jokinen was the problem if he were one of the few players to leave this club on bad terms. But when almost every star player we have leaves this club disgusted and demoralized you've got to start looking at management. Right now, anyone who knows anything about hockey will tell you Martin is not looking too good. If he gets fired, this might be his last job in the NHL. |

You say this a lot. That topix thing is free and takes like 2 minutes to set up. You get the yellow thing and an avatar if you chose, and it makes it harder for people to pretend to be you. Just saying... |

Think you meant good terms. But I agree with everything. This franchise and it's current Olli bashing puppets should totally be ashamed. But if the record shows us anything, is that this franchise has no shame. |
