It's called an "ugly" goal Gregggggg. A "dirty" anything in sports means it was done with sportmanship and fair play put second. Hence "dirty hit".

Just when you think this team is done for the year, they reel off an impressive 5 wins in a row. I hope Nolan has them prepared for tonight and they are not flat on home ice. No excuses, the Lightning played last night as well. They need to play with the desperation that they have showed. Hopefully, the walking wounded begin getting back in line-up.

I am so proud of this team right now I cant believe it. This streak while the team is completely decimated by injuries is absolutely amazing.

I agree that they are playing well (Wash could have easily won last night, face it).
But this team is far from a contender. While UFA's are doing well, Snow show try to deal them and get good picks or youth. That's my two cents. |

I still say get rid of Satan, Bergeron, and Hilbert. Possibly Guerin or Comrie too if it can land them a nice draft or prospect. Even if they do somehow make the playoffs, they will not go very far. Too many tough teams like the Pens, Sens, Habs, and the Devils (although we're dominating them now, the playoffs are completely different). This team still needs repairs to Mike's years of being GM.

“Let's go Islanders!” Since: Nov 07
ISP: United States |
Garth's not going to break up the team while they win...I've heard the Isles might pick up Bryan McCabe from the leafs, tho |

Nah. In hockey these days, a "dirty goal" is an aggressive unpretty scrum of a play that scores as oppossed to a dead-on clean or tipped shot. |
And of course, like the 1980s, utterly ignored by the "media." Especially the NY Times.(They hate the Mets, too...) |
Gotta love the hustle they showed last night. Also, the lack of mental errors after the 1st. If they could only play like this more consistently instead of streaky, who knows where they'd be right now.

Here's a question.
Who will sit in order to get Simon back in the line-up? Tambellini-Comeau-Nielson have been doing really well.....they play with alot of intensity and spark......not to mention they ARE NOT a liability in their own zone. Does Hilbert or Park sit? Will they play with one less D-man? Personally, I think Simon shouldn't be allowed to jump right back in......play him in Bridgeport until he can prove he can still score....we don't need his type of muscle.....especially since the Isles are winning. But we all know that Simon is Nolans Indian buddy.......so, someone else will have to sit. |

The reason they are streaky is because they lack talent. They do throw everything they have out there on most nights. But it is a long season and eventually ther dream rises to the top. I agree with the others that say to trade what we can for good prospects. They aren't gong to go far in the playoffs although I would love to see that happen. Would be great to seem them finish ahead of the Rags and knock them out of the playoffs |
Tambellini is sitting out for Simon just read it on the site. He was sent back to bridgeport.
that would be good..but we need a scorer! |
That rumor has been out there since the season started because McCabe's wife is from Long Island. The Leafs are desperate to get rid of the huge contracts John Ferguson Jr saddled them with, and I wouldn't take McCabe unless they agreed to pick up part of it. |

Confidence is everything in Hockey, so seeiing as Tamby, although playing well, is not scoring, he should go back to bridgeport. I love Tamby but we have to be patient and remember that there have been a few guys to lead teh AHL in goals who never stuck in the NHL. But sticking Simon back in is a mistake, save him for a Phili game, or even better a Rags game. Nolan is walking a fine line with him, and if he does something stupid it will make the entire team look bad.

The Islanders rule. I saw them pound Atlanta at the Coliseum and thought they were surely due for a loss against Washington, good for them for pulling out a win, and kudos to DP for his play of late, we were all ready to bury him a week ago. Whatever happens the rest of the season this team has done a fine job. Screw the Rangers, long live the Isles! Best franchise to root for in NY. And best buy for your money.

Forgot to mention that Ovechkin also hit three posts, one of them in the last couple minutes of the third and one in overtime. Meyer did really well but Alex's accuracy was also off when he got chances.
I heard that the islanders might sign Gordie Howe too!!!! LETS GO PILES!!!! |
Nobody can pick up part of a salary in the new NHL. For me, as much as I like the guy, the ONLY thing that would entice me into even considering taking on that monster contract would be throwing a good draft pick at us, trading our 3rd for their 2nd, or at least swapping picks with us. |

Stu, sometimes good D will cause the shooter to be slighty off, I don't think he was off his game i think M&M just had an awsome night
