Yea, only 4 points behind, and the Rangers have 3 games in hand with the Flyers. The Rangers play the Thrashers tonight, which will most likely be a win for them, so the Flyers will probably be six points back again, but that's alright, since the Rangers will once again have 4 games in hand with the Flyers. That win against the Isles was ugly since the Flyers played a pretty bad game, in my opinion. Fortunately, they got it done, and didn't have a let down game.

You guys think that they can get trade to get bowmester, and turco at some point. We need another defenceman and Biron isnt stopping anything right now. However in his defence he is making saves when he needs to. But we havent seen him steal games for us yet this year. The team is playing like crap right now. Thank god that they are playing teams who are not going anywhere, and thank god for carter and gagne without them we would be lost. some players on this team need to get better ie lupul, hartnell, briere is becoming another foresburg his 6.5 million is going to waste. how long before he goes LTIR and we can use that money to get a bowmester. Let me add another thing Timonen Bowmester Coburn Carle Parent Sbisa Vaanenen Alberts Thats a good defence who can move the puck, shut down lines, anchor a power play and penalty kill, as well as big and tough. Jones would be gone we need to get rid of him as soon as we can. i know hes hurt but when he comes back showcase him maybe we get a pick or a player back. By the way Gratton was put on waivers by tampa bay we should pick him up to be our forth line centre. Why is Nodl playing with the team insted of Giroux? Anyways good start to the season but the need to get better goaltending, better defencive play, and more secondary scoring to be a cup contender

Lupel really needs to get a fire lit. I like Scottie Hartnell's play; especially along the boards. Briere is fast becoming a dissapointment and I think your analagy that he is becoming another Forseberg is a good one. I think we give him one more chance to come back and do something, otherwise, LTIR is a good option to get Bowmester. Don't forget about Richards, he's doing it all out there and is deadly on the penalty kill. He's blocking shots like it's the playoffs. Well-deserving of the "C".

Plus he chips in for about 25 goals a year minimum. Getting Bouwmeester would be great, but it would cost a lot. There's a good chance that Florida will want Carter, if we want to get Bouwmeester. A possible trade, if not involving Carter, could be Lupul, Jones, Nodl, a pick for Bouwmeester. There's only one problem with your defense pairings though...there's 3 pairs, not 4. Although I still believe in Lupul and feel he's capable of giving us 30 goals this season, he definitely needs to start producing quickly, because 1.)Homer will do whatever it takes to improve the team and 2.) There's some speculation that he's interested in signing Sundin As for Briere, we're quickly seeing, like you said, that Richards and Carter are the future, and that Danny's 6.5 million could be used toward a top 4 defender....but the problem with Danny is that he's got a no-trade clause and who knows if he'd be willing to waive it. Let's not forget though, that Briere has 9 points in 9 games, so it's not like he hasn't be producing...and I would have to disagree with the statement of him being another Forsberg. He was completely healthy last season...so he's going through tough times this year, it happens. A lot of players go through it.

Assests Briere 6.5 Lupul 4.25 starting next year Biron 3.5 Sbisa 0.875 Vaanenen 1 Jones 2.75 Upshall 1.25 total 19.25 What we need to do to be more cost effective is develop a checking line. We also need a bigger stronger defence. The team we have right now is not tough enough. We need better goaltending. We need another top 4 d-man. Taking that 19.25 mill and spending it else where is a must. things we need a heavy weight defenceman that is a horse on blue line to go with timonen. all star golie In fantasy world this is what i would do. Turco Bowmester dignified heavyweight to go with cote. i would put asham metropolit and griere on the checking line to replace lupul for next year we are going to have JVR and giroux at enry level deals. I would claim gratton from tampa bay of waivers. The lines would look like this. Gagne Richards Knuble Hartnell Carter JVR Asham Metro Griere Cote Gratton Brashear Timonen Bowmester Carle Coburn Alberts Parent Kukkonen Vaananen turco Nittymaki I think this team is much bigger, tougher, evenly balenced, it doesnt have to brashear it can be boogard or carcillo some one who is a dignified heavyweight. Cote is a middle weight he shouldnt be fighting the big boys. I also dont know if the "new" guys would fit under the cap.

I like that lineup, but at this point, it seems lupul has been rejuvinated playing with Hartnell and Carter. Lupul now has 13 goals and 11 assists, but has 5 goals in his last 6 games. I like Grier, as well, but he's 33 now and I'm not so sure about picking him up. I know that he did really well in Buffalo and that the GM of San Jose had been wanting to get him for years. He definitely brings a lot of size and toughness to the Flyers, but as long as he brings enough mobility, I'm not against it. Marty Turco would be a welcome addition, but he also has a 5.7MM cap hit, so they would definitely need to dump Briere and Biron for Turco (which would give them 10 million in cap space). However, I have some doubts about Turco, since he hasn't been the same this year as he was during last year's playoff run and the regular season...right now, his GAA is a 3.28 and his save percentage is .881...I know that Dallas has struggled a lot this season with their defense, but it still is worrisome that an all-star goalie like Turco would struggle that much. Who knows, maybe a change of scenery is what he would need? But I think we should really be careful of who we select as our goalie to go after. For me, I'd rather go after a guy like Tomas Vokoun, since they've been playing Anderson a lot, and they're currently in a rebuilding mode. Or maybe we can look at going after JS Giguere, from the Ducks? Other than that, I'm not really sure about the goalies out there..I think the best thing to do, is probably just keep looking for them in the draft and see if there's a gem out there waiting. As I've said before, getting Bouwmeester will require a lot, if it's via a trade...and as of now I'm not willing to give up Lupul. Carter is out of the question as well. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Our 4th line? It would be great to see a line with Cote, Gratton, and Brashear/Boogard/etc.., cause that would make us a more intimidating team and we'd be able to intimidate our way past the Pens and have our way with them (so to speak)...

Tonight's game won't be televised and I'm rather upset by that. What is this CN8 crap anyway?

Well after a two game losing streak basically because nitty stoped stealing games for them, The team is showing what it really is with all the injury's. Our first line is not doing anything and carters line is starting to go cold. Our penalty kill is going down hill and the power play is starting to suck. We have to get better and soon. Homer knows this more than anyone. I would expect a deal soon.

Homer knows this more than anyone. I would expect a deal soon. Not so fast...don't panic yet despite the fact that the team isn't playing well the past 2 games. The Flyers always go through a mid-sesaon rut, and if this is what that is, than we just have to let the losing streak take its course and wait for the team to get healthy again. We're without Kimmo and Carle (who I think is day-to-day)...I wouldn't take too much stock in the first 2 games on the road trip anyway because of the flight delays the Flyers had and the fact that each team was fully rested and mentally ready to play. The Flyers still have games against Vancouver(whom the Flyers have played really well against over the years), Anaheim(another team the Flyers have had recent success over), and LA(whom although is playing surprisingly well, is still in rebuilding mode). The Flyers should be well rested and ready to go against the Canucks, who are without Luongo. So, I wouldn't be pushing too hard for a deal to made yet...not until we figure out how long Kimmo is going to be out. If he's out for a month or longer, than maybe we make a trade for Mattias Ohlund? But even then, you gotta be careful who you bring on the team, since Ohlund has a 3.5M cap hit. Also, remember that Matt Carle is our future PP quarterback. Maybe we trade a pick, Randy Jones, and Lasse Kukkonen to Vancouver for Ohlund, since that'll give the Flyers just enough room. Even though the Carter line has gone cold the past few games, I don't want to see Lupul or Hartnell get moved yet, because both of them are rejuvinated and on pace for career highs in goals, playing with a rolling Carter.

trade jones, sbisa kukonen, giroux and 1st and 2nd round picks for bowmester, then trade briere, biron and lupul for turco. We have way to many d-men and we need to upgrade because its not looking like a championship team just yet. The goaltending and defence will give the team consistency. That will give us a better playoff run because we will have the ability to win games 1-0 with the srtong defence. Or 7-6 with all the fire power we have.

He will be an All Star for years to come. He's 18 and already a regular in the line up. Briere can go. We're doing fine without him. Our goalies do well so long as they don't play the puck. It'll be interesting to see what Homer does before the trade deadline. Let's Go Flyers!

Giroux hasn't even really gotten a chance to prove himself with the team yet, and I can imagine him playing on the same line as Richards and VanRiemsdyke, when the time comes...or with Gagne and Richards. Sbisa is going to be a beast for the Flyers and will step into a top 4 role once Timonen serves his time with the team. Lupul is a solid top 6 forward and trading him when he's doing good right now wouldn't be smart. Trading Briere could work if we get the right player back but as of now, the only players I'd be willing to give up are Kukkonen, Jones, Briere (for the right price), and Upshall. Don't be so hasty to make all these trades though, because you don't want to screw up the dynamics of the team and mess around with chemistry. One more thing, why all the Briere hate? I know he's a defensive liability and that Carter/Richards are the future, but what about putting him on the wing, with Richards and Gagne? Let's not forget that Briere is a PP specialist and gets most of his points from special teams. Playing with Richards and Gagne (who are great 2-way players) would only help too...then they could move Knuble to the third line with Metro and Upshall...and use Knuble for the PP.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be the first to eat my words if he comes back from his injury and tears the ice up. I'd love to see him produce like he did in Buffalo when he was a Flyer-killer. I think Giroux will flourish with time as well. I really like Upshall. He's a great defensive forward and his speed makes him a great forechecker. Thankfully, I'm not the guy that has to make the decisions who to keep and who to deal. I have a hard enough time letting players on on Xbox.:-)

Jim Jackson, Steve Coates, and Keith Jones are there, Bernie Parent and some Flyers alumni are usually there...most of the Flyers' players are there (the important players: Lupul, Briere, Gagne, Richards, Carter, etc..). Plus, you can get autographs and pictures with the players, and take shots on goal against Niitymaki. It really is worth it to go down. It's actually much less of a hassle than going down to the skate zone and trying to get autographs from players that may not be able to stay and sign.

I don't really call that a lack of production. Last season, he had a respectable 31 goals and 41 assists, got 72 points....it's not what we expected, but he sorta got lost when Mike Richards emerged...plus, Briere is the type of player that needs a sniper like Gagne (who's a PK/PP wizard) for his numbers to inflate. But as I've said before, even if Homer decides at some point that he wants to trade Briere, it's not going to be easy cause Briere has a no-trade clause and there's no guarantee that he'll waive it.

let me make something clear when you are trading for quality you have to give up quality. That is the only reason why i would give up sbisa and giroux. The other reason is i dont think sbisa is ready for the nhl. He looks to small and often gets pushed off the puck that will be a problem in the playoffs. he will be good but i dont think he is there, in other words he needs to put on weight. giroux is an asset that we dont really need when you think about it, we have for next year gagne, richards, knuble, hartnell, carter and Jvr. Where is he gona fit in. What I rather do is trade him for equal value of another position. ie defence or golie. the flyers are blessed with a wealth of good young forwards however we are thin on the blueline and questionable in net. PS what ever happened to DevStar
