Full story: Chicago Tribune

If there has been one constant for the Blackhawks this season, it has been their ability to keep their high-octane offense rolling.

Yes sir! Nice win. Big win! 2-0 on the Circus Trip and I like our chances for 3-0 before we have to deal with San Jose and Anaheim. Khabby terrific once again, while we get goals from everywhere.

And how 'bout Kris Versteeg?! Sensational goal. And he could have had a hat trick, hitting crossbar/posts twice. Who is this kid? Came out of nowhere this year, didn't he? He's showing more and more star power with each passing game. And he's only 22! What's his ceiling? Why did Boston trade him to us last year for some guy named Brandon Bochenski?

Boys, I'm almost giddy thinking of how we get to watch all these young players grow and improve and jell together and, hopefully, watch the team itself -- the Blackhawks -- do the same with constant progress, step by step, game by game, season by season, advancing higher and higher until, until, we one day sweep Detroit out to the playoffs in the conference finals and get our shot at the Cup! It will happen. Oh baby, its fun to dream.

And even better to have reason to dream.

Let's Go Hawks!

You are correct Section 319!The Hawks start the trip off by winning the first two "winnable" games on the trip. Toronto's another one. We are on our way to at least 4 wins on this trip.

The game didn't start out so well. The Hawks looked flat but Khabby kept them in it. I don't know what Q said between periods but the boys came out flying over the next 40 minutes. Versteeg's goal was highlight reel material! Not bad for a 5th round pick. Ben Eager played his best game as a Hawk so far. Did you see that pass to Kaner on his goal? I didn't even miss big Buff.I know the Dallas announcers were impressed. Turco looked terrible but I think the Hawks had a little somthing to do with that. Good job guys!!

The PK needs some work but outside of that it's alll good...Keep it going boys! GO HAWKS!!

I'll give Tallon credit for making the Versteeg deal. To be honest I wasn't impressed with him last year but what a difference a year makes. Playing with Kane and Toews doesn't hurt either. That line is something else right now and just think when Toews starts filling the net..Look out!

VERSTEEG !!!

I damn near put my fists through the overhead, again, on that one!

Let's have some fun picking the Hawk that contributed the least last night. Sorry, I can't find a candidate. Even Walker was doing some worthwhile grinding and even stole the puck on one occasion.

Imagine: This can't be the highpoint of the season, because there are too many games left. Maybe the turning point, but, didn't we already do that late last year?

Everyone got in on the action, in one way or the other. Think of the terror teams are going to face, seeing Eager, then Havlat, et al, come out and hurt them when the other "stars" are missing the net. Next thing you know, Ladd, then Buff, or even Sopel start sticking pucks in net! YIKES!

Buff didn't even contribute ice time last night and look what happened. What a friggin' nightmare!

I haven't been this pumped since last season.

Versteeg's goal was amazing. He knew he was scoring when he crossed the blue line.

Great game! These are the type of games they have to dig down deep on the road and work hard for a win. They didn't look so good out of the gate, but they stuck with the program and eventually prevailed. Can't say enough about Versteeg! I also think that Kane is underrated. Look at his production...have to give hime some kudos.

Great win, horrible start.

The first period was just plain terrible. For the first 15 minutes we couldn't skate with an AHL team. BUT, Nik played out of his mind and gave this team a chance to win. Chico can back me on this, sometimes you just need your goalie to put the team on his back and carry you....Nik did it.

Another key point about last night. Finishing periods off strong. Since we started the game so poorly, Kaners goal in the last minute of the first, along with Nik's play saved the game for us. The momentum we gained from goals in the final minutes of EACH OF THE THREE PERIODS was huge.

This team has come out flat way too much this season, though. We have only started strong in a handful of games. This needs to change because the elite teams of the NHL will bury us in the first if we continue to play like that.... Dallas just wasn't able to get the job done.

OK, now the nice stuff...haha..

KRIS VERSTEEG, dare I say toews/avalanche style goal there?! Incredible.....just nuts. Back to back ROY?!!

Obviously Nik has to be right there with Kris for top star of the game. Huet, get comfortable....you are not playing for a while. I will be the first one to eat my words here. I wanted Nik gone before the season started, now I would like to lock him up for 3 more years.

Kane, Eager, Campbell, Havlat, the other goal scores, played exceptionally well. Toews had a stellar night as well, setting up a couple of those pretty goals.

Chalk it up, 2-0 on clown trip, NOW, let's but it behind us, AND COME OUT FLYING AGAINST THE LEAFS. We need to start strong from here on out. Games can easily be won and lost in the first and last 5 mins of a game.

LET'S GO HAWKS!!!!

Great win in a building we haven't done well in. Will the 2-0 start make the boys complacent or hungrier? Let's face it, if they come home now with a 2-3-1 trip it's going to be a disappointment. Keep pushin' Q, a great road trip puts them in position to battle for the 4 or 5 spot!
Kris Versteeg, your table is ready.
Hey Chico17, what's your take on Lundquist yanking himself against Vancouver a couple of nights ago? I'm curious to see what you've got to say cause my take, I think, is a little harsh.

No third period let down was a great indicator that a killer instinct is being adopted. This instinct will be there to hold and build on a lead when ahead and help them to dig down when behind. Versteeg's goal was a beauty!!! Kane with 2 and Toews playing a great 2 way game. Every game Q's discipline, game plan and work ethic gets more prevalent among the guys. On to Toronto. The Leafs are a pale imitation of what was once a great franchaise but still have to be careful against them. Remember what happened to Detroit in their first game against the Leafs. Wilson doesn't have much to work with but he is a motivator and he wwill have his team "up" for us.
Lets make it 3 in arow onthe road!!

My grade for Khabby: A- He continues to be the glue that holds this team together by giving the boys confidence that they are in every game. Goalies that are playing well have an incredible impact on the rest of the team. I'll say it again: We caught a break when no one wanted him. The Bulin Wall looked great again! Loved the way Versteeg is playing. Another rookie sensation in the making? Hope Buff is ok. Way to go Hawks! Keep the feet moving boys!

I wouldn't mind Eager getting an extended audition on the 3rd line. He brings a lot of energy and some skills too and showed last night what he is capable of when getting more than 4 or 5 shifts per game. Not to mention that Buff has been sleepwalking most of the year. His scratch last night due to an undisclosed practice injury seems a bit curious; wouldn't have anything to do with his play would it?Again, Khabi was just outstanding; with Huet in goal we may have lost 6-3.These guys are fun to watch.

Question: Does Versteeg still count as a rookie after the number of games he played last season? BMF: Very strange! I have never seen it happen before. Goaltending is so much mental as you know. The pressure is amazing at times, even at the amateur level. I have had kids want to come out if they are absolutely being shelled. Lundquist is technically really good. We'll see how this plays out in the future. What is your take? Bryan: You are right, Khabby is carrying the team right now and making them very dangerous!

Versteeg is 3rd in goals, 1st in assists and tied with Derick Brassard for 1st in points. He's also #1 Plus-minus..

You are in a dissatisfied mood, and are just spoiling for a fight today. However, be warned that this could backfire on you unpleasantly, especially if you take on superiors at work. At home, everyone is used to your behaviour and they generally make allowances for you, as they will today.
