Torts: Rangers have to regain the momentum

Full story: Newsday

It's elusive, this momentum thing. With a dominant 4-0 win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, the Washington Capitals wrested it out of the Rangers' hands.

Your consistent obsession with the Rangers is admirable, just become a fan already, you're on their boards more than anyone....

The concept of momentum is an interesting thing... sure the Caps had a huge win, but the Rangers are presently still ahead in this series no matter how you look at it.

The Rangers will be alot better tonight provided every time Avery is on the ice the Rangers aren't going up against the Caps plus two Refs. I don't care if the Refs like Avery or not, their officiating has to be totally unbiased so it doesn't influence the out come of the game. The Caps have gotten away with holding, interference, and many other blatant acts but the refs continue to turn a blind eye. It's not easy being a ref in hockey but don't sour the game by intentionally making or missing calls.

Agreed. The officiating has been horrendous. Missing calls for both teams will happen, but don't give a team the advantage by not calling penalties. It's not fair to the Rangers that calls are being missed just as it would be the same if the situation was reversed. I am sure some non Ranger fans will think we are whining about nothing, but this is certainly justified. If their team was in the playoffs and penalties weren't being called on the other team, you would hear from them loud and long. Bottom line however is the Rangers need a win. Period!

Unfortunately for the Rangers Washington has too many great players that were not going to be held back for an entire series. The Caps have at least 5 players that are much better than the Ranger's best player except for Lundquist. It took three games but the cream will eventually rise to the top. Sorry to say but the Blueshirts are done.

First off I have to state that I hate bad officiating and it has been bad throughout the series. That being said, it has gone both ways even in the last game. Yes Avery has been a target of the refs, but he has earned that and has also taken some bad penalties that were legit. The bad officiating was not the reason the Rags lost the game. And if you forgot, the Rags got a favorable call that led directly to a goal in game 1 which was decided by 1 goal. So you really can't complain that it has been 1 sided. I do agree that there have been too many mistakes and bad calls/noncalls by the refs. This is playoffs and it should be better. Hockey is still the greatest sport. Peace
