Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

After the Flames' sixth goal, Tomas Vokoun grabbed the puck out of the net behind him and flung it out onto the ice in disgust.

Don't they have two more games in two nights? Didn't they travel back and forth from Clagary to Edmonton by bus between games (and stay at a hotel in Calgary). Oh, and don't they have to travel to the other side of Canada. Real smart guys, next time why don't you make it harder on everyone and just take the bus the entire trip.. you're basically minor leaguers, you might as well act like it.

Beaverson, Brine, Calla, Cullimore, DeLory, Duco, Garrison, Henry, MacDonald, MacIntyre, McArdle, Meyer were out there against most of Calgary's team. Cullimore, Brine, Henry, Duco and Macdonald played over 15 minutes.

Just like preseason wins...preseason losses are also irrelevant.

Wake me up when the season begins.

WOW. I am sick of you people posting negative comments especially when it's PRE-SEASON !!!! Get it through your thick skulls. Final rosters aren't set. The cats players played well the first 3 games, and lost in OT on the third game, a come from behind, tie, and get into OT and get a point.

You people just love to bash anyone at anytime, just because you think you could do better than them. If you are so disgusted, why dont you try out as a walk-on next season. I am sure that they would skate circles around you. In fact I am willing to bet that you cant even ice skate, and I am willing to go as far as to say, that if you do go and 'try' to ice skate, you use those pvc pipe, old-fart-like walkers to support your arse.

Good night

Problem is, preseason or not, you hung Vokoun out to dry last night. Great job.

If Calgary iced a mostly NHL lineup against a bunch of Panther AHLer's than the amount of shots is almost understandable. Not making excuses as 8-2 is a beat down no matter how you look at it but it seems mostly like one bad period to me. Preseason results really don't mean much and this schedule they are playing is pretty stupid too. Let's see how they look with a more realistic lineup before jumpng on or off the bandwagon.

Let Vokoun get a bad game out of his system now, in pre-season. He'll be on top of his game, as will Anderson, when the season starts. It's good to get some adversity like this in pre-season, it helps to bond the team and make it gel. I am sure DeBoer had a few words to say in the locker room. Just a pre-season speed bump on the road to the playoffs for the Cats.

Yes, The Cats are ready to make a move up the standings in the Eastern Conference. Right.
Didn't this rebuilding process start in 2001?
Didn't The Cats win their last playoff series in 1996?
Can't you roll a few pucks out on the ice & win a playoff series like, um, once per decade?
As long as you keep buying tix, Alan Cohen is laughing all the way to the bank.
It's a business and it's profitable.
Why do you think Luongo wanted out & JB wants out?
Enjoy 12th place in the East.
Every team gets a few years grace period to rebuild, but this is a joke.
Some day, I will take my old Panthers jersey out of storage and wear it, but probably not for a while.

Who cares what happened in the past...probally why you live in Cali and still read the SunSentinel, you just can't let go. 2008 brings a new coach and new players. Last year they addressed the goalie, this year it was defense. Next year it will be offense. Luongo left because his head wouldn't fit through the locker room door and look where he is now, on a team that can't win either. Jaybo has already said he would stay depending on the team and they can't even deal with him until January so it's a moot point to make assumptions. Cohen can laugh all he wants because he has my money, wow he really pulled a fast one on me cause I didn't know they building a team model for last place this year. Then again, as a business owner I can't imagine why you wouldn't produce a product that extends your revenue stream another 3 months? The playoffs is when the wagon jumpers run out and get their jerseys and flags for the car, that's where the profit really starts rolling in. I just remembered, this is all part of Cohen's plan to finance the 11 million dollar practice facility addition for this loser, all for profit team but I'm sure someone will point out its just another place to hang more advertisement.

I'm curious as to why you think FLA can't trade Bouw until January? What happens in January?

They can trade him at any time they can't resign him until January which you probably already know. A lot of others on here especially the cheerleader brigade don't really know the game they just post rosy crap about everything the Panthers do.

Jay Bouwmeester in reality should have already been traded. It's really a given that he doesn't want to be here.

He "wants to see how the team does"? Well, he is seeing what the team has put together, and that should be good enough to form an opinion.

He's from Edmonton, and has said already that he doesn't really want to play there (probably not good enough as well), so..who is he going to cherry pick to play for? Detroit?, Pittsburgh?..really the only solid "locks" in the playoff picture.

This prima-donna keeps his crap up..they should trade him to Los Angeles and see what a real crappy team is, in a REAL crappy NHL environment. I think the Kings when they are home have to personally take the boards down and cover the ice when the Lakers come back into town to play!!!

SEEYA Jay..all this hoopla for a D-Man who never checked or hit anyone..and is an avergae bean-pole at best.

BYE!

Read it again dude. My comment specifically had to do with the preseason scheduling and the fact that this team has run out a long list of players who clearly are not ready for the NHL over the past few years during their "rebuilding". Perhaps these premature promotions is what we are seeing the products of today.

The complete lack of depth within this organization and the absolutely rancid scouting created a situation where these kids were called up before they were ready and had unrealistic expectations thrust upon them. They were then handed their own tails in gift wrapped boxes by bigger, better teams, which damaged their confidence to the point that they may never reach the same potential they would have otherwise reached had things been handled correctly.

Those are facts.

If your three greatest success stores as a franchise are Weiss, Horton and Bou then you've got fundamental problems as an organization. None of those three guys are good enough (or be with this team) to have their jerseys hung from the rafters in 10 years. Do you think ANY of the other expansion/relocation teams are going to have those problems? Do you think the Ducks (who are the measuring stick that this franchise should be compared to) aren't going to have a platoon of jerseys and banners hanging in their building in 10 years. Do you think the Lightning AREN'T going to win another cup?

The scheduling beef boils down to this. There are way to many questions with this team to go testing them this early. Yes, it is the preseason, yes you want to weed out the scrubs but you also don't want to kill your best players. Why do you think Vokoun got so mad on that last goal? I've never played professional sports but as an athlete, I imagine preseason doesn't matter when you're in the game. You still want to win and you darn sure don't wanna get embarassed. Speaking of embarassed, you've gotta be mentally handicapped if you think anyone that hasn't played hockey at a high level their entire life has any right to even share the ice with these guys. One does not "walk on" to an NHL team. You don't have to be a player to know the game, you don't have to be a chef to know how to cook and you don't have to be a war hero to be president.

Insightful hockey post. Good on you.

You don't have to be a war hero to be president, but history shows it sure doesn't hurt.
