Quite frankly, I wished he would've stayed longer too. Our penalty killing went south really fast when he was injured. Also, I can't fault him on the injury, anybody whould recieve a hit like that would have their leg snapped.

Even though it's not always pretty to watch
defense is the name of the game---and Michael Peca
embodies these attributes.
The Leafs would be well advised to try and get him back

No his game has declined to the point that we just dont need him... we have to get younger and build from within.. not this rent a lazy old person b.s.

I think we ought to tank it for building from within, we need a high draft pick imo.

It's too bad Cliff couldn't get rid of some of those no trade clauses at the deadline, the Leafs could've gotten a return for them.

I agree ! I admire sundin for wanting to stay ,but in a few years we are going to look back at this trade deadline and kick ourselves in the butt for what could have been.. Trading Sundin, mccabe, kabina, tucker,ma ybe blake, antro and pod... then sink to the bottom of the league. Our draft would have been awesome. Then sign a few free agents in the summer to play while the draftees developed ! It could have been...... should have been...... BUT it just didn't happen. Now the leafs are playing quite well, but will probably not make the playoffs. Thus we wont have much of a rebuilding going on !

We will still get a high draft pick, but yep, we could've had more. I'm not so sure Cliff could've done much at the trade deadline with ALL of those guys not wanting to move. Now I think every Leaf fan realizes that JFJ did a WORSE job then anicially thought, not only overpaying for the talent this team does have but HANDICAPPING the team for the next few years, now we are going to have a similar team for the next 3 or 4 years. The problem is, is what has this version of the Leafs done? I can only PRAY that Peddie stops shoving his head up his ass and lets a HOCKEY MIND run a HOCKEY BUSINESS!

Yes JfJ gave too many no trade deals... I can see him giving sundin and kaberle no trade deals ,but tucker, mcabe and kubina ??? There was no need for that.. Even sundin would have signed without a no trade deal because he just loves playing in toronto.. probably the same could be said of Kaberle... Although I'm glad kaberle has a no trade because I do not want this guy traded... He is an elite defense-man and should be kept for many more years !

You’re right DEV. With too many no movement, no trade players that don’t deserve it, Toronto has little options regarding trades. That leaves little room for acquiring players. And without “tanking” where is the new, young talent going to come from? And where is the roster space going to come from? Not a good position to be in. I couldn’t agree with you and DMC more.

That pretty well sums it up PDG !! Now the leafs are playing with real heart..I just hope management isnt fooled... If they played with the desire they have now at the beginning of the season we wouldnt be in such a mess. I say go on with the rebuilding no matter who is playing good now.

I hope management is smart enough to realize that they have to start rebuilding, regardless. The major problem is, with the Leafs playing so well now, maybe they won’t see much need. Plus, if Toronto keeps this up, they may just make or just miss the playoffs. Either way, it really screws up their chances of getting a high draft pick. Time for them to make the hard decisions.

They won't make the playoffs, I figure they will finish around 12th. There hasn't been to much to cheer about this year but oh boy am I basking in the sun after beating the Flyers.
