Greg you are aboslutely right on target with this article. My concern with the Islanders is simple...even with Tavares and let's say he lights up the NHL with goals, they still are very very very short on goal scorers. Kyle will do his job, Hunter too...the Isles can't ask for more from Streit as a D man,,,I am truly not sure on Josh's ability to put serious numbers on the board, so while I'm all for the "kids", looking ahead without a serious scoring threat and not just one OHL player, will we end up seeing the same next year. In the end the kids played well, but let's be frank, with what wins they had they weren't a threat, ever. Tavares, Kyle and maybe a few others will score, but where is the consistent threat coming from. While the Rangers did a good job on Ovie, the bottom line is that every time he skated he was a fearful threat and he alone opened the lanes for his teammates to score. The teams winning have numerous threats. That's my biggest concern with the Isles. I have a lot of trust and faith in Snow, and I am hopeful he pulls off numerous free agent deals, but it's got to, it must go way beyond Tavares.
