Give the job to Messier, there's no risk at this point, only upside.

I'm glad they fired him, not because I'm a Ranger fan, but because TR is a good coach and deserves to be with a better team.

NYR -- next time don't sink so much $$$ in big FA signings. This is a cap league now and the days of the Broadway Blueshirts having 80M in team salary is over.

Devils have been keeping team salaries low for years and finding guys that want to play in that type of setting. We let Holik, Gomez, Neids, and others go.

And we all know, Drury is a lousy Captain...just like Elias was.

Happy trails to you!

I mean, I know we needed a change at coach, and I am all for it, but sadly enough he has been a relatively successful coach with the team, and the bigger issue still remains.

Glen Sather. We are doomed as long as he is the GM.

I am all for the Messier thing. This team doesnt seem to have a captain, might as well get the ultimate motivator behind the bench

They will continue to suffer under the ineptness of Sather. It's senseless to talk about a new coach until he is dumped.

I hope that they do not promote from within because the whole organization is rotten to the core. Pat Quinn might be available this team needs some discipline.

I'm not big on always firing the coach, but there has not been any spark on the Rangers in quite a long time. Coaches have to be able to motivate, otherwise something has to be done.

That was stupid, along the lines of firing Randolph in the middle of the season. The Rangers are still in play off contention. No matter what they do from here on in, they aren't going to get too far. Ride out the year and start fresh next season. Maybe he'll come to the Islanders.

it's always easier to play in circumstances where (a) there are no expectations of winning (Islanders) or (b)no one cares and there is only a modicum of media coverage(New Jersey).

The Rangers' problem is they can't put the puck in the net (whether they get 20 shots or 40). I don't know that anyone could teach that, but Renney certainly couldn't.

Although I am a passive Rangers fan, Tom Renney is a good man who unfortunately lost the team. Tough to watch this group of bums. but the old adage goes. You can't fire the players. fire the coach. Not the right thing, but it is what it is. Best of luck Tom & thanks for the 4-5 years of coaching the Blueshirts. Now if only Glen Sather can be shown the door. I agree Messier should tae over but spies are saying John Tottorella. Either way, it's a lost season for the Blueshirts. But let's not forget congratulations to Harry Howell & Andy Bathgate for getting their #'s retired in the rafters at MSG.

I am an Isles fan and this is a MISTAKE. Renney is a great coach, he was in a no win situation and it's criminal that he get's the blame.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
