Sather knows it's time to get younger

Full story: Newsday

Maybe this is the summer Glen Sather finally wises up. He chatted with a small group of reporters between rounds of the NHL draft yesterday, a rare public appearance for the city's most elusive general manager, and said what everyone who follows the Rangers has known since the lockout ended.

Couldn't have said it any better Mr. Staple. Well done. I have been calling for the youth movement in this organization for years, but the Dolan's poisonous fingers have bled into the decision making, and ruined any hope for the next five years. The Pens are going to roll, unfortunately, for the foreseeable future . They have the makings of a dynasty (even though Sidney is the biggest pansy in the league). Sather has tied Tortorella's hands behind his back with these over-priced under-achievers' contracts. If it's up to me, Callahan wears the 'C', give Drury and Gomez to Ottawa for Heatley and a bag of pucks (while eating half of both contractual obligations), let Mara go, and not only bring back Betts, but put an 'A' on his jersey. Redden? Two bags of pucks. Bring the kids up and let 'em go. It's time for the Rangers
"leaders" to reflect the city they represent. We New Yorkers are not overpaid under-achievers. We are the hard working grunts in the corners who actually do their job and get things done the way things are supposed to be done.

Great, get rid of Betts, who blocks more shots then Lundqvist makes saves almost. Get rid of Sjostrom, who is the best forechecker on the team. But lets keep Chris Dreary and Scott NoGoalmez. We will suck again this season.

Mean time Blueshirts have to watch the Islanders draft all these great young kids and have plenty of cap space for quality free agents. And now with Taveres and a new building,Good free agents might actually want to go there. Rangers are in trouble...Sather should've been gone LONG ago.

Rangers leadership wises up this year? HA. The Dolan family is a poison pill for the Rangers, and the sooner they sell the team to somebody who actually knows how to run a business, the better off we're all gonna be. Now if only i could get my cable to turn on...

Ditto the Mets with the Rangers. One Cup in 70 years. The Rangers always have and always will be a joke!

1. of course they have alot of young kids and high draft picks..they have sucked for 15 years..

2. You have alot of money for Free Agents because NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY THERE...

Enjoy Tavares, you'll need about 10 more players that don't suck before you sniff the playoffs again..

oh yeah, and maybe someone to stop the puck as well...

I love it...Ranger fans still jealous of the Isles in spite of the setbacks we've been dealt with all these years with Moron Mike. Well, we're past that and our future looks much brighter than the Rangers(as usual). All the heartache Isles fans have endured through the years and the Ranjerks never cashed in(Lord Stanley) the whole time! What losers.
Now Ranger fans know that the Isles are doing it the right way and you're screwed because your MORON, Glen Sather has strapped you guys for the next 5 years minimum. The Rangers will always live in the shadow of the Islanders and the Dynasty. Rangers suck.

PK was one of the few bright spots of this otherwise sub-mediocre team, and the 2 players most responsible will be let go. Sounds like Orr is gone too--another useful guy with a small contract. It's nice to make room for young players, but the Rangers appear to have all second and third line prospects and nothing close to a franchise player. They don't have a true first line veteran either, tho maybe Staal will be of that calibre next season. If everything goes right, this team will eke into the playoffs and exit in the first round.

Gotta love these Islanders fans. They all come out to post messages about the Rangers yet they can't come out to the coliseum and support their team. Keep talking guys. That's all you got.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aquarius

If you're still happily munching chocolates and all sorts of other goodies, you'll have to take yourself in hand at some point during the coming fortnight. Maybe you'll have to compensate for all the festive over-eating by taking more exercise or cutting back on the calories, or perhaps you'll decide that you can't delay giving up smoking any longer. As Mercury turns in your twelfth house of secrets, messages you receive at this time may be very subtle or contain hidden meanings meant only for your understanding.
