Sather knows it's time to get younger

Full story: Newsday

MONTREAL Maybe this is the summer Glen Sather finally wises up. He chatted with a small group of reporters between rounds of the NHL draft yesterday, a rare public appearance for the city's most elusive general manager, and said what everyone who follows the Rangers has known since the lockout ended.

Arthur; Thanks for saying what every real Rangers fan knows -- a lot of these contracts are not tradeable. As the Toronto media (Brian Burke will find a way to get John Tavares - NOT) showed, wishing and hoping are no substitute for reality. BTW: If you think things are tight now, wait until next year (when the cap is likely to go down).

Why don't you blame Dolan who's Sather's boss and your boss) like you do Wang and could even mess up a ham sandwich after your stupid shots at the real New York hockey team last night and not the one who bought a cup in 94 from Edmonton and Chicago.

Oh, that's right, you would lose your job immediately.

Go watch DiPietro's 55 save game at Msg and his leading the Islanders to the playoffs and then watch Lundqvist run for cover with a 3-1 lead against a 20 year old rookie on a Ranger team that traps.

How about Charles Wang's team scored only nine less games than Dolan's laughingstock Rags with five hundred fifty more man games lost to injury.

The Post reported Dolan paid the Lakers three million cash for their draft pick at 29th.

The best example of Rag tradtion, Scotty Bowman completely ignoring Leetch when he mentioned the real HHOF's on the podium.

Real Hockey teams have real fans. Face it even with Tavares the Isles still suck. Dipietro and his 15 year contract are a joke while Lundquivst has become a top 3 goalie in the League. As far as Leetch, one of the top American players of all time, two time Norris Trophy Winner, 1st American Player to win the Con Smythe Trophy, Stanley Cup Champion , Perinneal All-Star .... yeah I think he might belong in the Hall.
Waaaaa - I am an Islander fan and I can't even get a nice arena .
Congrats on you 25 Year without a Cup Anniversary ... and counting

So let me see if I have this straight. Sather is willing to offer Zherdev 3.25 mil, or perhaps more, who did absolutely nothing last year in the second half and plays at about 20% all the time. But Mara, Sjostrom and Betts, who combined make less than that, are all gone because Sather's "hands are tied"? By his own ridiculous construction of this team I might add.

Where exactly is the grit on this team coming from next year?? And on top of that "When we signed all these guys, everybody was excited about them, you guys included."?? Really Glen??? Name me one person who was excited about the Redden and Roszival disasterous signings?? Media and Fans alike killed both those contracts the minute they were signed. This is not hindsight, it was first guessing by virtually everybody!

I give up.. this is going to be a looooooong year..

Hey buddy I will take my 25 year draught over 80 yeas of below average subpar performance "let me buy greatness and call it my own instead of building it and taking pride in my own work"
when you go to the Hall of Fame to see Leetch's induction, which by the way is the only original ranger from their own system since modern age....
Check out the section where the Hockey Hall of Fame honors the great teams of the NHL.. You won't see the 94 oilers in it..
You see the only professional team that has yeilded 19 consective playoff wins, and 5 appearance to the Stanley cup playoffs and 4 consective Championships and the 8 original Islanders from their own system .
Something your team will never ever see... never never never...
So if you don't want feel the bitter sting of jealousy stay away from the Hockey Hall of a Fame..
I was there and the truth was more evedent about which team is greater..

This is by far the best analysis of a sorry situation that I've read in a long time. Sather has got to go with the trash he took into this once proud organization. Pleas Dolan, clean house. Get rid of Sather, Roz, Redden, and start a new era of maybe some good hockey again!

Go watch Volek score a goal the last time the Islanders won a playoff round. Get the VCR set up.

Were those the empty seats disguised as Knick fans that showed up for Thurston Howell III and Andy Bathgate....LOL

Why is Newsday always calling out Wang and not Dolan, what is Staple and the Rag shills so scared of.

Oh that's right John Mancini the lead editor quit or was fired for five days during Obama's inaguration because he wrote something about Eddie Curry of the Knicks in this paper Dolan was furious about.

When Dolan says jump, Staple, Zipay and all the Rag shills at this paper say how high sir.

Until Dolan gets the same abuse other owners get in this town this is not a credible sports section so whatever they write is worthless.
