The Isles are done. I was at the game sitting in a section full of Sens fans. They had no urgency. Memo to Garth Snow: Sign Ryan Smyth and Jason Blake. Buyout Yashin and please, find some talented skaters similar to just about every other team in the Eastern Conference. Thess muckers n grinders just can not compete with the Pens, Sens, Sabres and Lightning. This is the new NHL. Find talent that can play in it.

This isn't about Dipietro, this is about the Isles playing like bums. Hardly any shots on net. I'm a huge Islander fan, but I gotta say, pretty dissapointing to see them end the season this way. Look at Montreal beating Buffalo tonight. Are you telling me Montreal has a better team than the Isles? I woudln't have thought so, but the Isles can't buy a win when it matters most. Sign Smyth, trade Yashin, and work on bringing in a better back-up.

The show is over for 2007..... Ryan Smith & Jason Blake. All the best the teams you sign with if 2007-2008. It was nice having you.

bye bye Isles. Dipietro hurts you when he plays and when he doesnt. Thats why his nickname is D.P. for Double Penetration. Any REAL hockey fan nontheless and Islander fan should realize he is not that good. Great job signing him for 10 years... and all you complain about Yashin...hahaha

You're right on. This team is so bereft of real NHL caliber talent it isn't even funny. For the most part it's a collection of cast-offs and borderline NHL talent at best. Hilbert belongs in Bridgeport, Kozlov despite his over 20 goals only plays hard on occasion, Satan is a soft waste of space, Hunter tries hard but just isn't that good and he's slow, Yashin is even slower and rounds out the perfect sleepy line with Kozlov & Satan,("the Trio Bland")
Sillinger had a decent season, but he's running out of gas and pushing 40, and slow too. The defense is old & slow. Campoli is a big nothing. I don't know how in the world you fix this incredible mess when you have nothing of value to deal.Smyth & Blake are free agents. They'll make a big deal about signing Blake, but the guy is about 34, and this team is several years from being even decent. He plays with grit and has good speed, but maybe you let him go and use that money for something with more upside. |

DiPietro has been one of the top goalies in the NHL this year, has stood on his head all year for us, to say he hurts us when he plays is just silly. I was at thhe game tonight, they just looked horrible out there, no energy, no excitment no nothing. I have no clue what happened within the last week or so. I was at the PItt game last Thursday and despite being a pretty close game was one of the best if not the best game they played all year, and now this crap. pathetic

Kozlov has scored some goals in the past couple of games, so it might seem silly saying this but it really seems like the guy just does not care. He seems to be in the right place at the right time on occasion, but otherwise when he's battling for the puck he looks like Kvasha, slow and lazy. Yashin is our CAPTAIN!!! Can you believe it?$7 million per season and the guy won't even break 25 goals, injury or not. Amazing this guy had the audacity to hold out for a new contract in Ottawa. It's funny how he's allowed to sit out when he thinks he deserves more than his contracted salary, but the Isles have to pay him even when he does nothing.
Lastly, how many stupid penalties is Sean Hill going to take this season? Same number of wins as last season. Does that tell anyone anything? They didn't even have anyone with a fair amount of talent to call up from the minors on defense (or forwards for that matter), instead having to resort to signing players from european leagues. This whole organization is a disaster. I wish Wang would just put us all out of our misery already and sell the team to someone who will move them far, far away. I don't fault Nolan at all. Other than starting Dunham against Buffalo, he's gotten everything he can out of this pathetic bunch of losers who just don't give a damn. There's a reason why other teams never wanted guys like Kozlov and Robitaille. They're journeymen for a reason - they're just not that good. Boy, I wouldn't mind having McCabe, Brewer, and Zhitnik on defense these days. If Blake and Smyth know what's good for them they'll get away from this joke of an organization during the offseason, regardless of how much $ the team offers them. And yes, I'm an Isles fan, not a Rangers fan. |

Other than DiPietro, who is a great goalie (but now questionable with concussions)...who do the Islanders really have? Yashin is a joke...everybody in the league knows it. Blake and Smyth are counting the days until they are gone. Nolan may have been a good coach for one season a decade ago...but is it possible the game has passed him by. As for Garth Snow...you can say this for certain: He's still the second best goalie on the team. Bye, bye Isles...

As Ranger fan I am proud of my team. From Louie Fontanato to Nick Foitu to the incomparable Ryan Hollweg. Tradition baby the New York Rangers. We've won one Cup in 67 years. I know the parade was in Edmonton because we had more Oliers than Rangers on the team but let's not be picky. You might call us the Cubs of the NHL. Yes, the fine tradition of MSG and the reign of Dolan is what sets us apart. We have character guys like Sean Avery who was suspended by the Kings last year for conduct detrimental to the team. Naturally, Slats brought him in because he's a character guy like Captain Jagr who refused to participate in a shoot out and told Renney to stuff it. Let's not forget Kevin Weekes a guy the Islanders missed on. Kevin is a great guy and every electrician in New York loves him because they constantly have to change the red light above the goal. Ex Islander Brad Isbister I know he can't play but he looks good in our third jersey the Statute of Liberty? How about 37 year old Brenda Shanahan nothing like building for the future as we continue to accumulate Stanley Cups for our enlarged but depleted trophy case. Eat your heats our Islander fans!

You feel better now that you vented after coming to the realization that you team is done. You still have to worry about trying to keep Blake and Smyth. You go off about the bad moves the Rangers made. How bad would it be if your team does not sign Smyth after giving up 3 first round picks. Usually rent a players cost less and they actually help getting you in the playoffs. |

Unfortunately, I think they are done for 07. I disagree with some of the moves they did few years past: Got rid of Acoin, Schnieder, Lapointe, Chara, Parrish, Peca. While Im glad we have Smyth and Blake and some decent young skaters, the presence of a strong physical team is not there. Trdading for a few superstars is not going to work, look at the Rangers and past Islander history (Linden, Yashin, etc.) I know the Island is still behind the team and management is very positive with the team, but the problem is consistency. Keep training HARD, make the SMART moves and in a few years the Isles will be a playoff team. Hey, at least they waited until the snow melted to play golf!

Wow, what a great group of true fans here, not one positive comment and the seasons not even over. Just remember, 23 years since last cup turns to 46 in a hurry and than 54 and counting. I hope you all enjoyed your 4 cups all those years ago, seems like you might not see another for a long long time!

Go Rangers! I love the Rangers particularly when I imbibe in the Kool Aid served at MSG and the same stuff served at Jonestown. Makes one yearn for the tradition perpetrated by Gene Carr, Pierre Jarry and Larry Cahan. The Islanders cater to Long Island and the Medford crowd. Medford is on Long Island? Move to Manhattan and feel the power of the blue and white and the Statue of Liberty on our third jerseey and the exhiliaration only Thomas pock can bring. |

Forget the Islanders we know the Rangers are better. If it wasn't for the games we win the Cup evey year. |
||||

Keeping Yashin for as long as they did (I really hope that they will get rid of him soon)was the Isles biggest mistake. His salary paired with his legendary luck of commitment are demorilizing. Good luck next season.
|

So true (he! he!). The Rangers have Thomas Pock and Dale Puritan at Hartford. We have a future and just like our past we the Ranger fans stand united behind our heroes. Tom Renney a coach once described as an "idiot" by Mark Messier while in Vancouver although I'm sure Mess was misquoted. Snow is no Slats even though Slats e won EVERYTHING in Edmonton in the eighties. I still believe he'll turn the Rangers into the disaster we as Ranger fans have come to expect. Like the Cubs we believe. From Alfie Pike to Michel Bergereon and Ron Low yes the tradition lives on Go Statue of Liberty! |

This season is over already! I'm a huge Isles fan, but I see the writing on the wall. These guys dont want to shoot the puck! They consistantly look for the pass. I wonder if this is the type of teamwork that Nolan teaches. As far as DP being hurt he has already stopped enough shots for two seasons and his real injury is a case of shellshock. I dont think he will return for the rest on the season. And to top it all off I know both Smyth and Blake are leaving. Smyth wants to be in the playoffs and he doesn't se it in us. And as far as Blake is concerned he is 34 and will go to the highest bidder, purely an economic decision.
Hopefully I'm wrong on every point but I'm afaid I'm right. Hey Ragheads you may make the playoffs but I sense you getting swept in the first round because good acting will not advance you in the playoffs. |

Don't get down on yourself, Dubie - you played a heck of a game, particularly considering hardly anybody else bothered to show up...
