Great win by the Flyers. Real team effort tonight. Now if they could play this way all the time. Hopefully this was a turning point.

Yea, they played a pretty good game, although, I thought Biron could have stopped that shot by Tanguay. Carter had scored a beauty off a lovely pass from Gagne and it was good to see Upshall score. However, it was kind of disturbing to see them take a penalty with 3 minutes left in the game...oh well, they got Atlanta tomorrow, so let's go for a 3rd straight win.

...Saw some of the game, appreciate that the Flyers helpd us out keeping the Habs out of any points The B's only squeaked by with a point last night (SOL,they were lucky to get that). The Habs appear to be in the early stages of an Ottawa grade melt-down, they flat sucked.
Red, I know the Fly's defense and goaltending are he big concerns, but what is your take on ths teams apparen lack of toughness? I'm not just talking about the Gratton beatdown, but that did help illustrate the point.
Do you think more toughness and intimidation would give the team a bigger boost, and maybe cover the D a bit, giving them a chance to heal?
Oh, BTW Red. Have you ever checkout Bleacher Report?

Yea they do lack toughness, which they ended up losing with Smith going to Ottawa, and Hatcher on LTIR. Ryan Parent and Randy Jones are pretty physical defenseman, but the type of the defenseman they really need, when it comes to toughness and grit, would be someone like Brooks Orpik, from Pittsburgh. Maybe Bouwmeester will provide, along with his defensive and point production abilities. It seems that the Flyers have gone from a slow, physical, tough defense to a fast, soft, finesse defense seemingly overnight.

I don't know if I'd say that an Ottawa-grade meltdown is coming, but I do think that this is definitely an important year for the Habs, considering that Kovalev and Koivu are in the last years of their respective contracts and Tanguay will be FA this summer. Lang, Kostopulous and Komaserek are also going to be UFAs so, as I said, I think that this could be the best chance the Habs have at going to the Cup or winning it, before they have to start bringing in new players...unless they decide to resign Kovalev and Koivu, but at 35 and 34 respectively, I doubt it.
