Hey Newsday,

If the Islanders win against teh Devils today, they better be on the front page of the sports section - not another stupid homer by A-Rod in a game that doesn't mean that much.

If the Devils play Brodeur today, the Isles should really rough him up to teach Louie a lesson. You rest your franchise goaltender in a meaningless game for your team.

Devils have to play Brodeur for the integrity of the league and also so the Leafs don't cry to the NHL all summer if they don't make playoffs. Also, you know what, if Isles want to make playoffs bad enough, beat these bastards no matter who is playing for Devs. Show a little toughness and grit for once and stop letting Brodeur and the Devils have their way with you every game. Actually if you're the Devils who do you want in the playoffs, soft Islander team or cheap-shot Leafs team that can injure you and get away with it ie. Peca, Jonnsson?

Will the Devils play hard today? Will Marty Brodeur play? Last night, loudmouth Don Cherry (never won a Cup)said that the Devils "have to be fair" and start Brodeur.

Wrong. It's not the Devils' job to help Toronto make the playoffs. The Devils have earned the right to rest their regulars. Maybe Toronto coan point to blowin a 4-1 3rd period lead at Buffalo a few weeks ago to missing the playoffs, not an Islander victory over Scott Clemmeson and the Devils.

And, beating the Devils with Clemmensen is far from a sure thing.

Let's go Islanders

The Devils owe the Leafs nothing. As a Leaf fan I believe that Brodeur has earned the day off. You have to win on your own merits. When you start your playoff fate in the hands of other teams you get what you get!

LET"S GO ISLES. It shouldn't matter who is not playing or who is playing for NJ. If the Isles can not raise to the occasion and beat any team with thier destiny in thier own hands then they do not deserve to make it into the playoffs.(I wish they were playing Phili again) LOL.
LET"S GO ISLES!!!! I'm nervous already......

Said this last night on another story…

Brodeur is going to start for two simple reasons:

1) NHL playoffs are a game of attrition.
2) Lamoriello is a freakin’ hockey genius

The Devils want a team to beat up on Buffalo in round 1 – push them to at least 6 games and get them tired and banged around. Toronto is the better team to compete with and wear down the Sabres versus the Isles in a 7 game series. Lou will demand that his team win this game…and he will start the goalie who has owned the Isles…just watch…it has nothing to do with Brodeur’s records or him staying fresh…it has to do with Lou’s knowledge and planning.

GOD I HATE THE LEAFS!! LOL! BUT FINALLY A FAN THAT HAS A CLUE! YOU MUST HAVE A LOT OF CHARACTER TO SAY THAT AS IT'S SO TRUE. YOU SAID IT ALL!! IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT IF YOU'VE GOT TO RELY ON OTHER TEAMS TO DO THE DIRTY WORK THAT YOU COULD'NT DO ON YOUR OWN! MY VIEW, YES, BRODEUR AND DEVILS DO DESERVE A BREAK BUT AS AN ISLES FAN, ISLES SHOULD SHOW SOME PRIDE AND BEAT THE DEVILS NO MATTER WHO IS PLAYING OR WITHOUT DEVILS DOING THEM ANY FAVORS. AS BILL PARCELLS HAS MAINTAINED,"YOU ARE WHAT YOU ARE"! YOU WANT TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, WORK HARD AND OVERCOME YOUR OBSTACLES!!

HERE WE GO!!!!!!! Everyone was saying it was over. A single elimination playoff game. The other 81 games mean nothing. The points streaks, the losing streaks, Chris Simon...nothing. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

The mighty Islanders have only one chance today and that's if the Devils sit Brodeur. No coach with half a brain would play Brodeur today so the chances of an Islander will sits one notch up.

Cherry is wrong. A team rests or plays a player due to their needs not another team's needs. Leafs should have won more games during the season then it wouldn't matter who Devils play in net. Based on Cherry's flawed logic any team that won playing against a backup goalie wasn't playing fair. Cherry is a Leaf homer. Get a life loser.

Well said. If the Leafs could have held on to a 4-1 lead over the Sabres, then this game doesn't mean anything. Have fun golfing Leafs!!! Go SABRES!!!

Bums. Bums bums bums bums bums.

Two goal lead with 4 minutes left and they can't hold it.

One goal lead with 2 seconds left and they can't hold it.

Bums.

When Ryan Smith bails on this collection of bums the season will be a total loss.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Gemini

You're in a warm-hearted and generous mood today, especially when dealing with loved ones and members of the family. You want to give them as much of your time as possible, and also to do anything else that will keep them happy. The only snag will come if you're trying to spread yourself too thin and you end up making promises that will be difficult, if not impossible, to keep. You may forget all about them but other people won't.
