I think that the Leafs are a legitimate playoff contender however, to say that they are Stanley Cup contenders is going a little overboard.

You are probably missed listening to Norm Rumack and Roger Lajoie apologize to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
You probably miss living in Markham, Ontario and listening to self-serving reports by Howard Berger.
I know that you missed Bill Watters and Jeff Marek and their afternoon talks about the Toronto Maple Leafs.
You should be happy living in the United States and not listening this boring nonsense everyday.

Norm Rumack several weeks ago did a Saturday afternoon show. He wanted callers to discuss the following:
How fans would sneak down from the top of an arena to get to the bottom of the arena to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The arena was not the Air Canada Centre.
The arena was Maple Leafs Gardens.
For over two hours Norm would force telephone callers to discuss this so-called important topic about the Toronto Maple Leafs.
You should be happy living in the United States and not listening to this garbage.

Howard Berger during the NHL lockout and the rest of the Canadian Media were chasing around New York Ted Saskin.
Howard Berger and the rest of the Canadian Media made it a big deal to get information from Ted Saskin on the negotiations between the players and owners.
This was a big deal only in Canada.
The U.S. media had no interest wasting their time on the sports of ice hockey.
American television executives and advertisers did not care about ice hockey.
American television executives and advertisers were probably turned at ESPN and therefore there was no television deal of the NHL. The NHL had a new deal with OLN ( now Versus).
This is another example of the disaster area called the Toronto Media.

Here's oone thing you can do, if you really hate the media that much, turn the dial, flick the switch. You can control what you listen to to a certain extent. Listen to music instead of sports talk........
"The U.S. media had no interest wasting their time on the sports of ice hockey."- That's the problem, they don't care about their own teams. Maybe they should move all the teams to the North and only have a few American teams. It's not like it would matter because the average American doesn't care too much.

Leafs have people believing they have shot at Stanley Cup The article was written by Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun. Steve Simmons is an annoying person.

Major League Baseball Pitcher Randy Johnson criticizes the New York Media. "Randy Johnson took direct aim at the New York media yesterday, apparently blaming sportswriters for his rocky two years as a Yankee." "The thing I got -- about the most," Johnson said, "is a lot of times in New York is there were people who wrote -- that never ever bothered to come in and introduce themselves." He also said, "I mean, sit down and talk to me. That was the one thing that didn't click very well.'Oooh, he's surly,' and all that. Well, you're damn right. If you're going to use me as a floormat there and not take the time and write your own stories and not get to me, then I don't want to sit there and give you my time" Randy Johnson criticizes the New York media. I think it is appropriate to criticizes the Toronto Media.

Make your own page about the Toronto media and i bet you'll be the only one on it. If your such a Toronto Media hater, why the hell are you living there. (so you say) Buddy this is about the Leafs and their shot at the cup. Everyone has a shot who makes the playoffs. We're not on the topic of the media. Make your own page and talk to yourself.

They had a shot at Stanley Cup in 1967. The more injuries the Toronto Maple Leafs get in the 2006-2007 NHL season they are contenders for the Stanley Cup. Steve Simmons is being ridiculous. Members of the Toronto Media will make sure that the Toronto Maple are not Stanley Cup contenders.

If that's your attitude, then why not just give the Cup to Buffalo now instead of seeing who will win it? It's a whole new game once the playoffs start. That's one of the many beauties of winning the Stanley Cup; it takes more grit and heart to win than any other trophy, period!

I said they are legitimate playoff contenders but not for a Stanley Cup. If they do make the playoffs they will more then likely get illiminated in the first round. I love my team but I'm realistic.

Good teams hitting a slump, players out in the early games due to injuries, poor goaltending. Once you're in the playoffs, it's any teams chance, and that's the way the lower teams think about it too. If we can get in, we can win. Pressure does funny things to people.

Pressure does funny things to the members of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Toronto Media will push hours after hours about the importance of the NHL trade deadline. The Toronto Media will push the Toronto Maple Leafs to something in their run for the Stanley Cup. Pressure from Toronto Media will make sure the misery they will inflict on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Miserable Pressure is coming from the Toronto Media.

Miserable Pressure is coming from the Toronto Media. It’s no different here. Stillman and Cole are out, Cole for the next two weeks. All the media is talking about is who can Carolina trade to get some scoring. They constantly bring up the Hurricane’s record last year compared to this and how we need wins in every game from here on out. Media is media and pressure is pressure. If you’re a man, you should be able to handle both.

How many media outlets are there in either Raleigh or Charlotte discussing the Carolina Hurricanes. I doubt the pressure is as much as covering U.S. College Basketball for University of North Carolina or Duke University. I doubt the pressure is as much as covering NASCAR. Carolina Hurricanes have a pressure for being the defending Stanley Cup Champions. The Toronto Maple Leafs have pressure from the garbage that is the Toronto Media.

Anyone can win the Cup! Look at the Oilers last year or the ducks when they beat the red wings in the first round in the first 4 games. Everyone and anyone can be a Stanley cup contender. Theres a .0809 chance that the leafs will win the cup this year. Random number but my point is it's low. But there is still a chance, so don't be saying the leafs don't have a chance in hell at the cup because i guarantee you they will win it very soon but i doubt this year. 40 years is too long.

I doubt the Toronto Maple Leafs will not win the Stanley Cup because if the Toronto Maple Leafs were given a choice between winning the Stanley Cup or profit for the team. It is very likely that they will choose profit for the team. I believe that it is in best of the NHL that Toronto should not win the Stanley Cup. A team ,such as Nashville, is the most likely to win the cup.
