Panthers: Ballard's big hit recalls lost art of the hip check

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

With the speed and skill of players in today's NHL , it isn't easy to pull off the hip check that Keith Ballard threw at Evgeni Malkin in the first period of the Panthers ' 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Ballard has the best hip check in the NHL. It is fun to watch when it works. He was a good acquisition by JM, despite other mistakes JM has made.
And our Cats have won 4 of the last 5. Tonight is THE big night.
Go Cats!

Focus on winning against the Flyers tonight.. though thanks to the stupid Marlins it won't be televised. Watching it on the computer isn't the same as the BIG SCREEN!! I'll be cheering for the Canadians and Rangers to end in a tie tonight

It figures this pathetic excuse for as franchise won't televise the biggest game of the season. Oh well, when they miss playoffs again we can talk about Ballard's hip check all summer.

While Alan Madoff counts his buck made by letting Montreal and Rangers in a "close" race....

I hope last night's loss by Montreal helps - as perhaps that will push them harder to beat the Rangers tonight.

If you have NHL Center Ice, the game is televised there. Second, why would you want the Habs and Rangers to tie? That means a point in favor of the Rangers. Catching the Canadiens isn't the first priority - but getting ahead of the Rangers with 3 games left is the number one mission. That's why you want the Rangers to lose every game they have left (with no OT point) and the Panthers to win at least one game, if not more.

Well here's the thing... no ties in the NHL anymore. Maybe he hasn't been watching the NHL the last 3 seasons? I have center ice. It's awesome. Get off of work at 5 PM, go home and shower, grab some dinner.. then hockey all night. Numerous games. Amazing thing to have. Also, a late news story lastnight is Montreal lost Schneider for the season. That's huge, since Danny Markov is already out. The Rangers are going to come hungry. We need to be ready to POUNCE on the Flyers tonight. EVERY rebound, EVERY pass, shot, power play, penalty kill; needs to be dead on. Tonight we need to play like a playoff team. The Canadians lost lastnight (thanks to center ice I got to watch it).. makes things that much tighter in the east. Penguins also kind of struggling. Hopefully the Lightning can shut them down tonight. Gotta love the NHL. The only honest sport there is!

Yet, you still have to admit that the Cats have a much better team on the ice and are actually fun to watch. After all these years I will take that first round entry. You never know what can happen once you are in.

I can count on my fingers the games that were fun to watch. Low scoring games with anemic offense generally suck. Although I do give credit to DeBoer for finally ditching Martin's inane defense first strategy.

Simple math: one (and only)round of Panther playoffs = say 6 M in revenues , 2 or more rounds from Montreal or NY fanatics = 18M each....(18-6)/2=6 ...6+6=12M ....there you have it...a very close race for the playoffs and while out , still a very profitable season (for the owners not the fans).

You sir are pathetic!!! on other boards u jump on posters for calling out "bad" opinions, but yet you do the same thing.... and some how its ok for you but no one else. And god forbid someone turn the spot light on your lame comments. I bet you are in your mid 30 5ft 6in tall 230 lbs stuck in a dead end job married to a chick who cant wait for u to go to work, so she can invite over her true love.(Of course after the kids go to school, dont want to give them another reason to laugh at "daddy"). Why dont you post hockey and let other posters opinions be just that...... there opinions. And i bet if this was a bar conversation you wouldnt say half the garbage and insults that come out of that hole in your head. Now you say they might get in but wont make it past the first round. In the begining of the season you said they would be last. then a few months ago you said another missed playoff season. Make up your mind bro!!!
I think its time you get over all those school bully issues you had growing up. yea im sure it was tough being the loser of the class but life goes on. I dont think the kids that pushed you in the locker and and the girl that turned you down at the dance are sitting around angry at the world so move on buddy. Let go of that awkward family vacation when mommy walked in on you during your "alone time". I would love to meet you and i invite you to my sports bar and anyone else on this board for that matter to give yorkie a flash back of getting beatup in school. But im sure you wont show or if you do youll use another name like you do hear. GROW UP SISSY BOY, YOUR DAD LOVES YOU AND HE FORGIVES YOU
