Red Wings' Draper says Predators' Tootoo stepped on him

Full story: NHL.com

He was in a vulnerable position. I'm a straight-up guy, I would never intend to do something like that. Red Wings forward Kris Draper said Nashville's Jordin Tootoo intentionally stepped on his back when both were going for a puck along the boards in Game 4 of their first-round series. via NHL.com

I'm glad you can hate someone you know absolutely nothing about. Jordin Tootoo is a hard hitting player, but he is not a dirty player. He never intentionally ever runs anybody into the corner with their heads down, and he would never step on a player on purpose. When he fights, once they fall, he stops hitting. I have never seen him have to be pulled off by the refs. He hits hard to throw players off their game. He is also no wimp, and will not back down from a confrontation, that doesn't make him dirty. He is a role model for kids, and he is a player, and knows what stepping on a person, or intentionally trying to injure a person, would mean if the roles were reversed. He tries to play as a team player, and loves his fans. He is a player the other team hates, but if he was to be traded to that same team, he would be cheered for. I hate people like you, that sit on your couch and judge with no merit.

If Jordin Tootoo had really want to hurt Mr. Draper he would have felt it. Mr. Draper had to be told, what had even happened, because he didn't feel anything. Detroit is a bunch of cry babies. Why doesn't Draper just stand up and be a man, than slandering a fellow player. Just because Tootoo throws them off their game, they think they can play head games with him, and it will throw him off. Doesn't work with Toots. Jordin loves his fans, but he gets more reved up, by the booing crowd, and has said he plays better. Way to show him Mr. Draper, you just gave Toots a reason to show you up. Go retire old man.

Predators were no match.

Out played...out shot... by a bizillion to 1.

Watch the replay. He deliberately, in a premeditated way, dug his skate into Draper's back. He flat out did it on purpose. Watch the replay.

Tooti should be fined at the very least.

Adam I have watched the replay. I think you need glasses, along with all the rest of the Detroit fans. I think instead of whistles for Tootoo, I think you fans need to take soothers for Draper for the game. Be thankful your team is still going. On Sunday Tootoo could have smoked Osgood for being out of the net, but he didn't, because he is not a player that intentionally tries to injure other players. He had nothing to lose there, his season was over. You fans are probably as bad as the Montreal Fans and can't see past your noses. Detroit could barely handle Nashville, they are not going to go far, but if they do manage to battle into the cup, wait til the Rangers get a hold of your pansy ass players.

What happened on the ice right before the goal was that Chris Chelios was whistled for slashing Jordin Tootoo behind the play in the neutral zone.

What came after Lidstrom's goal was just as crucial to the Red Wings' success in this game as the goal itself. One minute into the Predators' power play, Kris Draper was whistled for tripping in the neutral zone.

``I recall the play,’’ Tootoo said.``I was just trying to get out of the way because he was in a vulnerable position.

``I’m a straight-up guy. I would never intend to do anything like that. I was just trying to get out of the way.’’

Draper said he didn’t suffer any harm during the play.

``To be honest, I didn’t feel it,’’ Draper said.``I came in after the first period and our docs asked if I was all right.

PANSY ASS WIMPS, AND DIRTY PLAYERS YOURSELF. CHELIOS IS ONE OF THE DIRTEST PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE. I guess you Detroit fans can't read either.

To Hockey Mom and Equestrian 40:
It seems JT's behavior is very upsetting for you.
Get some help please.
The "ABC's" are an exercise from REBT, which is a form of cognitive behavior therapy that is simple enough and effective enough to be used by anybody and -- it works.
The"ABC's" are an exercise that helps us to stop being victimized by our own thinking.
A common example is the issue of someone else's behavior "making us angry." Anger is a common emotion, but very damaging in how it makes you feel (and its impact on how others feel.)
This is a very common way of expressing something and we hear it often, but in fact it distorts the situation it attempts to describe. A more accurate description of "someone making me angry" is to say that I feel angry about their behavior. They are not making me anything- they are simply behaving in a way that I am getting angry about. I notice their behavior and then I become angry. The responsibility for the anger is mine, not theirs.
This can sound strange at first, but dealing with problematic anger and frustration this way works. REBT theory says that it is generally irrational and self-defeating to get all worked up about someone else's behavior.
