Great job tonight guys. Seriously. Way to lay down.

Once it was 3-2..You could smell it coming from 4.2 miles away.
I could go on for hours on this crap, but what would be the point? It's been said, screamed, cried, and bantered over since Pavel Bure left town. Pathetic. Yeah, let's argue whether two mascots are better than one, kosher hot dogs are 10 bucks, Ice Dancers are entertaining, signs are in your freakin' face even while you pee..etc. etc. etc. Bottom line is this...This team needs to get to another level. If the players don't do it, then the COACH MUST GO. Did he allow two goals in a minute? NO..BUT this team doesn't respond to this guy...AND it NEVER will! Martin should GO! |

tough nite for the 14 panther fans in attendance

This team is so out of touch they probably thought the boos at the end of the third period were really fans yelling Boooooth. Classic Panthers loss. Start out strong, build a lead, get lazy, create a meltdown, lose the game. They followed the script perfectly. If the All-Star game weren't coming up I'm sure Martin would reward the team for sucking by giving them a day off from practice. This has got to be the worst professional hockey team ever in the last 50 years of the NHL. Can anyone think of any worse?

[/QUOTE] The Senators in 93-94-95 under guess who ? Jaques Martin. I wouldn't hire him as a water boy. But some owners like a "Yes Sir" appearance indefinitely ! Business as usual ! |

That's what you get when you elevate a janitor to GM.

I don't think they layed down at the end. Looked to me like (for whatever reason) they dropped back and didn't forecheck they way they had been earlier. Almost as if they were told to play from the neutral zone back. They made it fairly easy for the Oilers to gain possession in the offensive zone. The question I would have liked to see Jacques answer is whether he instructed them to play the final 2 minutes that way or did they fail to forecheck and press the play when the puck came back to Edmonton's end.
The first goal scored was somewhat understandable (though not necessarily acceptable)- with them short a man (killing a penalty) and playing against 6 attackers. But that tying goal was nothing more than bad play. Vokoun totally screwed up the play when he missed the puck behind the net and got caught out of position. He also screwed up Allen, who was coming around the net to pursue the puck, but had to put on the brakes when Vokoun stepped in front of him. But then no one won the battle for the puck (or tied up the puck) as it came around to the corner - from where that bad angle shot beat Vokoun because he was scrambling to get back into position. McLean was closest to the play in the corner, but had stopped in the faceoff circle when he saw Vokoun go for the puck. He was flatfooted and that can't happen in that situation when you see a player uncovered who is the only one with a chance to get the loose puck (as the puck was moving around the boards behind the goal towards that direction). Definitely a disheartening loss and one that should never have happened. |

I had season tickets for the first 9 years. Could someone please tell me how many people are ACTUALLY in attendance for these games???? Isthere anyone sitting in the upper level??? How do they afford to pay these guys with the horrific TV deal and these paltry numbers??

I thought I have seen everything until last night. The team resembles the organization. That was so pathetic and tell me that everyone did not see it coming. As soon as it was 3-2 it was over, I knew it, JM knew it and so did the players.
This team has no pride and Ollie has the guts to say "at least we got a point". I am so happy that it is the all star break, because I also need a break from this garbage. |

The fact that the Panthers now have a forward who is exciting to watch, can actually skate and is willing to go to the net and yet Dumbo now gives him only about 20 seconds of ice time says it all. I guess the 2 goals in Washington were a fluke. Sam Gagner who is a year younger, can play for Edmonton but Sean Matthias, who is a year older, can't for the Panthers? All you had to do was watch Horton's pathetic attempt in the shoot out to realize how sad the situation is.

They forgot that they have to play 60 minutes of hockey not 59:26.
Disgraciado! |

That is factually incorrect. I'm not a Jacques Martin fan, but at least be accurate. Martin was not the Sens coach in 93, 94 or 95. He was hired as a mid season replacement in the 1995-96 season, taking over for Dave Allison in late January 1996. And it's easy verify this, just go to: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.p... |

Here we have a job poor;y done...The organization perpetuates mediocrity..
The players are out of position, bunching up, looking at the fast forward but not in front of the net, and not there for the pass either. Defenders that back up, and run out of ice and permit the opposing forwards shooting room. A coach that likes the weather and amenities of South Florida, but does not return the effort on ice. Lets not forget Yormarks debacle of promotion, revenue goughing and the classy ads in every urinal. Yormark sells it all through smoke and mirrors and delivers snake oil... Cohen must be in Prozak, or just asleep at the switch.. |

Most frustrating team in all of sports.
Why can't they get the attitude to play the last 2-3 minutes of the game like they're down a goal.. a sense of urgency instead of sitting back. The stupid penalties. You can't expect to win a game when you give the other team 6 power plays. |

Hey Thomas Vokoun. You Vocan't leave the net with a minute left damn it!!
Their 2nd goal was a beauty and unstoppable. But the 3rd one was appaling. No emotion from anyone else on the team. I hope he pointed himself out in the locker room. Moreau "ran" into Vokoun and knocked him down. Any other team would have beelined for Moreau and leveled him. Did any Panther? Nope. Even though it was an exciting OT period, it really is sad to drive from West Kendall to see this meltdown every game. Martin---show some emotion. Look at Mactavish standing up on the bench to see his plays and argue. Uncross your freaking arms, stretch your neck out and show some god damn emotion!! |

Technically the Panthers should have lost this game in regulation. That disallowed goal from Pitkanen due to Perry's supposed brush with Vokoun was a lame call in the Panthers favor. That could have easily been allowed making this game a total loss. This just proves that even with the officiating being in favor of the Panthers they still can't win.

Wait a minute and Red Baron have it right. The Panthers style of play-hanging back and not being aggressive was one problem.Under that system it looks like the players are not hustling but they are actually instructed to play in the system.Cullimore commits a stupid hooking penalty in our zone with 2:43 to play.We lay back and play defensive waiting to react instead of getting aggressive. We had opportunity to get empty net but because of Fat Frenchmans conservative defensive system edmonton scores with 2 man advantage.Vokoun who was just trying to hustle makes bad play on puck and whammo it is tied. Then the Panther choke as always.I watched Jokinen all night on ice and on bench and he looks totally disgusted.David Booth is the only NHL hustling player on this team.Cory Murphy is to frail and afraid to check or take body.He turned his behind to block Edmonton player half heartedly and got called. This team is the pits and I wish dumb Martin and his outdated style would go.Trade Jokinen or Bouwmeester because those are the only 2 players that would bring anything.Second alternative is to go out and get a forward that can score and spend the 7 million. We are going nowhere.Com ments Wait a minute or Red Baron?
