Well, this just happens to be one of those games where "you can't win 'em all"...Yeah, penalties came into play, but, they did come back from the dead..only to lose.

Good game, but hopefully the hustle continues

didn't get to see it (school), but its what I thought. seems like it wasn't impossible huh. Keep going cats!

i don't feel as bad about this loss. dumb penalties at the end I heard via NHL.com radio but a consistent effort seems to carry continue. goal production is also pretty spread out. good signs inspite of tough loss

A valiant effort, but beating Ottawa on their home ice when they were desperate for a win just wasn't in the cards. Boston is a must win. This team cannot afford anymore losing streaks otherwise it's time to start setting tee times and vacation plans for early April again.

Two shots on goal in the third period might have had something to do with the loss....

It seems the consensus is "Oh well" and I tend to agree. This one was winnable, but some nights are just not yours to win. Bad luck on Heatley's return.

They have to get at least two points out of the weekend. Hopefully Buffalo won't play Miller in goal...

Well, What did I tell you all...stupid penalties, same result...Beat a good team for once. They had a chance at first and blew it. As good as Vokoun has been --2 of those goals blew right by him.. he can blame himself .

Sorry Panther fans, they cannot play fellow cellar dwellers every game (ie: Tampa, Toronto etc). I was kind of hoping that they could sneak into the playoffs so the Flyers could have a shot of demoralizing them and the few fans they have, but the reality is that they will be swinging golf clubs, not hockey sticks come the post season.

Also, I won't break this players confidence by saying his name, but I played a couple of rounds at Adios the other day with a significant Panther player last week. He made it clear to me that in his time in the NHL, he has never seen an organization or hockey market like this. He wants out ASAP.

You knew it. I knew it. Everyone on this board knew it. We were just hoping that by some miracle they could pull it off. Too bad the rest of the season isn't playing against Toronto.

It seems that many of the fans on this board are as complacent as the team. I'm actually quite outraged over last night. Just because the effort was there last night the team gets a pass??? Sorry. If this was Detroit the team would be truly pisst after last night. You go up 3-1 against a team like Ottawa on their ice and you can't close the deal? Disgusting.

they can beat all the bad teams 8-0 but anyone significantly better than them and they can't close the deal. Pretty awful. Sorry, I'm not buying the farm on this one. This kind of loss actually upsets me more than if they were blown out.

This loss is almost totally on Vokoun. He gave up 2 terrible soft goals, although I know he's not going to be on fire every game.

Conservative play, dumb penalties, & 2 non-calls at the very end in Ottawa's favor doomed the Cats.

Maybe the problem for this player and other Panther players is the focus is on golf and other activities available in this warm climate as opposed to focusing on your job, playing hockey.Possibly in the colder hockey towns the players are forced to focus on bettering their hockey skills while also mentally and physically conditionioning themselves to play at an elite NHL level because the weather isn't allowing them the same pleasures they can take advantage of down here.

If you were watching hockey scores last night (and I'm sure you weren't), Detroit gave up 4 goals & a 3-1 lead in the third period AT HOME, and lost 5-3.

Far worse loss, IMO!

I couldn't agree more with this. First off, I hardly doubt the "Briere" poster...he seems to tell more lies than a politician the night before election day.

However, if it were true, get rid of the player. While there may be time after practice or whatever to get a quick round in, for the player to tell the average schnook (Briere) just how bad it is in Pantherland and how looking forward he is to leaving..I want him out NOW! This guy is a cancer.

Once again though, I'll point out that this is a lie, and that the only "club" this guy holds is the club of another man while the Village People is playing over a wooden dance floor. Another sad fact about the "men" who are origainally from Philadelphia.

BTW....What was the name of that film starring Tom Hanks about the...nevermind!

Thank god someone said this. It is the truth. And its also what I hear from rumors as well. I say if you don't show the passion to play the game like Booth-- get out of town. I'm sorry-- some are you are opposed of getting rid of Olli--- in my opinion, we need leadership worse that anything. Give me a motivated team over a team content with golfing and going to South Beach. I think the "work ethic" of the Panthes left with Mellanby. It's been a slow decline there-- so at the very least we need a Captain for this team.

So they won't be playing golf and talking smack about their own team. I wish I knew who "that" player was becauase I can add it to the other things I have heard in regard to these players.

Must be nice to make millions and not even show up for work!

Wow, they lose to the top team in the conference, after coming back from two goal and one goal deficits...they stink lol. Some of you people are idiots and have no clue about hockey. But they beat the same team last week 5-3 and they are world beaters. And I can definitely see how they are going to be playing golf in April, when they are only two points out of the division lead, five out of the eight spot. They are doomed lol. Some of you should be comedians.

First, the Panthers played a pretty good game last night. There was good effort, lots of physical play and the PP worked very well. Goaltending was the killer for both teams. Emery isn't sharp, but that was to be expected as he has been struggling (as has Gerber). But Vokuon had an unusually terrible night controlling rebounds, plus Heatley's second goal was off a rebound and an unlucky bounce that put the puck back on the doorstep. If they get the effort and play they had last night, they will probably win more than their share of games against most teams. Having said that, it's just a fact that the Panthers can't afford losses like this if they are to have any chance at a playoff slot.

Why do you find it so hard to believe that a pro hockey player finds the Panthers to be a joke of an organization? I'm not a Panther fan, but I have run into a few Panther players through various functions my wife and I are involved in. My kid was in the same class at NB Prep with Lyle Odelin's and Sean Hill's kid a couple years ago. Take your Panther color glasses off and face it! This club is regarded as a joke by a lot of people in the league. Again, don't shoot the messenger!
