Bad as Palin is, bloggers are right. Had no place in article. But his criticism of DP as back-up is right; no logic whatsoever having a back-up that can't play, especialy given the iffy nature of this season anyway. BECAUSE if something like yesterday happens, there's nothing you can do about it except make the entire organization look Mickey Mouse, which is exactly what happened. Awful, awful exhibition. And Gordon looked minor league.

I'm sure having DP on the bench is a direct order from the two geniuses upstairs....Wang and Snow-

Would you have a skater on the bench if he was unable to perform...NO. Then why would you have a back-up goalie who is unable to perform ?

Is it because DP is the teams poster boy and you don't want to kiddie fans NOT get to see DP ?

It makes no sense and truly shows that this team does not want to win- What happens if Mac Donald takes a slap shot to the head and can't continue ? You're forced to bring in DP to risk further injury to this broken down millionaire-

Gordon can't be this stupid...we already Wang and Snow are, so this decision must be theirs-

I agree , I do not think it is a matter of dp being hurt,I just think he needs more time to get into game shape as he missed all of camp with the exception of the FLA game

Don't try to look for the logic here. There isn't any, which probably is why Gordon pulled a Sarah Palin, ignoring a question he didn't like and changing the subject.

What do you expect from a NEWSDAY writer? It's obligatory to write something with a left wing bias. I'm glad that I was working while the game was on, I missed it.

We all know what sort of season we are going to have. Best we can hope for is a dead last finish and draft a star player in the first round next year. Let's not fight for the 8th spot only to get tossed in the 1st round and wind up with crap in the draft. We need firepower, not late round maybe's. We're gonna have to wait, but that's the way it goes. I think they are trying to rebuild, so you need to just sit and wait and see if they can. I don't expect too much from the Isles this season.

Ok all of ya's shut the hell up! Whining bunch of pansies, all of ya's. Enough! Who the heck cares about the Palin comment, who cares about DP being the back up yada yada yada. If all any of ya's are going to do is complain this season then go elsewhere.

The Islanders lost yesterday bottom line. There are going to be games like this because they are rebuilding. Dp is probably hurt and they don't want to tip their hands as they no longer have to like the NFL. Good for them. MacDonald needed to know what it felt like to be pelted as he is a rookie for christ's sake.

The real issue that none of you are talking about because you're all sorry excuses for fans is the brawl. Rivet had no business whatsoever jumping into the mix between Mair and Thompson. As a result of this inexcusable incident, Witt may be out for a while with stitches in the back of his head and a concussion.

I truly admire the FIGHT this team has offensive or not. They are beginning to gel as a team and stand up for one another. And it's not just the vets sticking up for the kids. It's Okposo standing up for Comrie as he got railroaded from behind, Bergenheim jumping on Rivet when he pulled down Thompson. Then Witt stepped up to help Bergie when he was tackled by Lalata.

Gordon was right, the penalty killing was great yesterday. They need to improve a little each game and they are. Yesterday the pk, vs Blues it was proving they can skate, the system is slowly beginning to work, and that they can score when the utilize the system, vs the Devils the kids learned about the NHL and that it's a rough business.

Who cares about the Rags theyre 5-0 wow. They're suppose to be, they'll eventually choke and go on their usual slide and then start winning again. It happens.

So quit all of your whining and just watch the kids play. Cheer on the team if you're "suuposed fans."

guys... the long and short of it is, the youth movement is just a spin to say, once again - we suck. I've been loyal and hopeful for years, but c'mon. Year upon year, we're fed this crap about rebuilding. What "glory days" event will they invent this year to keep the old fans coming back? We're tired of it all. Wang is crooked. He was crooked at Computer Associates, and he's crooked with this team. I used to fear that they'd sell the Islanders and move them off to Las Vegas or something. NOw? I wish they would. Just put the whole thing to bed - it's a nightmare.

Did anyone watch the Rangers game? THAT is hockey, as much as I hate to admit it. The Bridgeport Sound Tigers could beat this current Islanders team. Oh wait - we ARE the SoundTigers. Nevermind.

If you're hopeful - forget it folks. We're bottom of the barrel this year. And if you think "fine - we'll get good draft picks" - think again. Snowy will find a way to goof that one up to.

McDonald's been in the league since 2003 numbnuts. Your credibility is less than your IQ which is to say, nil.

It's a shame, this team is so cheap there are no threats. I feel that this team will also ruin Okposo because they have nobody surrounding him with any talent. What do they expect this kid to all of a sudden save this team. If he were smart he would try hard to get the heck off Long Island as this will not be good for his career.

Bottom line, Wang is CHEAP!

I agree, none of the young players other than maybe 1 or 2 are worth anything either. Lets face it, the Islanders will never be a winning team with the current ownership.

WHO brought up the Rangers? Why do you care? That's why people say Islander fans are obsessed with the Rangers. The article and other comments pertain to the Islanders and DiPietro and yet you bring them up. Why?

Seriously, obviously he cares that they are 5-0 because he brought it up. And, if Dipietro is hurt, then why would you even have him as a backup? He should be in the press box, and the third stringer should be riding the bench in case MacDonald needed to be pulled. Let's Go Isles is clueless.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aquarius

This is another day when financial matters cause trouble, as Mars reverses in your seventh house. What started off as a minor niggle with a partner or an opponent yesterday could now escalate into a full-blown row, but at least this will give you the chance to get certain things out into the open. Legal issues from the past may become ugly. If you're pointing the finger of blame at someone, don't get so heated that you accuse them of everything under the sun.
