Detroit coach 'just doesn't like' ex-Hawk Chelios, says Jeremy ...

This might sound alittle funny but the Blackhawks Convention is Sold Out in May they should expand it or allow more people to go. I live in California and its harder for other Blackhawk Fans to get tickets than someone that lives there plus you pay for Hotel and Airfare which it cost us $1200 to go not just $75 like people who still live there. I would love to take my daughter and show her the Blackhawks players and she will know the start of somthing that reminds me of the late 80's early 90's when I was a teenager. Hawks and Hockey is Back in Chi-Town for years to come.

Of course JR would like to see Chelios in the Wings lineup; he is now a human pylon! He can barely make it uo and down the ice before needing to come off.
Babcock is the best coach in the league and has the luxury of playing good young defensemen like Kronwall and Ericson ahead of Cheli, who will be there if needed.
JR is just trying to create some drama that is not there.

Ya. Drama thats not there. Says the guy from Michigan.

Babcock is a ginger. Most of the Red Wings are gingers it seems. And gingers suck.

Kevin is right on. Look at the bad goals Cheli gave up against Anaheim in the previous round, because Rafalski was hurt. Each time it was because he was too slow, couldn't keep up, and the Ducks wound up scoring.

JR is ABSOLUTELY trying to rile up the Chicago crowd...probably because he's jealous he never had the opportunity to play on a franchise as solid as Detroit. In any case...look at the Wings' roster and tell me who you would put Chelios in for. Please do.

It's not about sitting Chelios--to me at least. It is about how you treat the guy.

He's a future Hall of Famer and he has done a ton for both Detriot and Chicago. Everyone knows that talent plays, but there is no need to disrespect the man.

Do you guys really think that Hawk fans need Roenick's comments to get them fired up for the game? You've obviously never been to a game in Chicago.

You are dead on. JR is a joke. He should retire too. He'd like nothing better than to see a 47 year old man trying to keep up with kids. What a crock. I'd sure like to see how Cheli has been disrespected. To me, he was given a big oppurtunity to play against the Ducks, and nearly cost them the series. A non-issue by a guy who loves keeping his NOSE in the limelight!! Loved the human pylon description by that other poster:) So TRUE!!

Oh, Ryan,
Sadly, I've probably been to more games in Chicago than you've watched on TV. You're right, he is a future hall of famer...but how is he being disrespected? Do you play someone for the sake of playing him? That's not how sports work, and I hope you know that.

JR played in Chicago, he knows how close fans pay attention to things. And if he can give the team, and the fans, any extra bulletin board material, he'd gladly oblige.

Please tell me how Cheli was disrespected...by getting a contract with Detroit this year -- and a shot at another cup -- when no other team was likely to sign him at all? Go back and read the stories from when he signed last year...he knew what his role was....as did Darren McCarty...and he hasn't even suited up this playoff season.

Forget the playing time aspect of this argument, I'd like to know the EXTENT inwhich Babcock has used his position to demean Chelly. That sounds like "Blashpahmey'(sp?) Is he worried about his position as coach? Is it really about givining the "venerable" veteran playing time? Of all the dern days to miss M.I.T.M, I had to miss yesterday. Roenick threw some "bombs" out yesterday. Roenick didn't pull these statement out his rear-end, if you now what I mean. This story is very interesting.(Not pertinent to the game,) but interesting look into the dynamics of a playoff Hockey team.

Maybe Chelios isn't playing because he is 47 years old and should of retired a few years ago. Grandpa needs to know when to say when.

While Roenick may have been a decent player at one point, he is truly an idiot everywhere else.

no defenceman in the game could have caught Selane. I think Chelli is just fine, just a little dirty.

Or could it be that he has a younger (and at this point, more talented defenseman) in Brett Lebda (also an American, as is Brian Rafalski) that he feels deserves the ice time?

Chelios was a great player but he's 47, there are 7 other D-man that are better than him on this team. Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart, Ericsson, Lebda and then you have Meech what guy do you sit to put Chelios in?

If Babcock is demeaning Chelios that's his bad, you don't disrespect a future "Hall Of Fame" player, no matter how old he is, hockey players and coaches have to much respect for the game to do that, I think JR was just talking out his A $$, was he there when this took place ? Did he hear it from Chelios ? Hear it 3rd party ? Most likely NOT !! I doubt it happened at all, SHUT UP JR ! You could never carry Chelios's jock ! Chelios was a great player and it is sad to see him hanging on, well past his prime, like so many others great players its time to hang them up Chelios, I admire the fact that you are still trying to play at 47, but it's over, Thanks for the years with the Hawks, enjoy the Hall of Fame.

Roenick is now and has always been a big mouth who has no clue as to what he is talking about. Too, bad his sorry team is sitting home watching this series with nothing to do. If he didn't suck as a washed up has been maybe his team wouold still be playing. It is easy for him to sit home when he doesn't have to face the masters of the game.

Jr is a BH @ heart, so he is looking for anything to rile up fans. Chelios has stated that he doesn't know what JR is talking about and that he plans to talk to him. Babcock has two U.S. defensemen and two U.S. kids, so the resentment argument is clearly bogus. Babcock, did, however have the line of the day about JR: "I'm a huge fan of Cheli's, so I don't know what else to say. I think (Roenick) must have some time off, does he?" As in eliminated, once again, from the playoffs.

Hate to tell you this but that's exactly where Roenick got his statements. Can't really blame him though since that's where his head has resided most of the time for the past several years.

He's just stirring the pot to get a little attention. He's become kind of pathetic over the years. Too bad really, just an athletically talented guy (used to be anyway) with no brains.

Chelios has not been disrespected in any way by the Red Wings organization. He knows his role on the team. He knew it when he signed his most recent contract. He's content with it.

The only one disrespecting Chelios is Roenick himself, using him to draw attention to himself. But that's the kind of guy he's proven himself to be many times over.

LOL at JR! If I were Cheli, I would be embarrassed as heck. Why in the world would you ever say anything that has nothing to do with you? I smell a spurned lover.
