Silver...Get a clue
Yes, Belfour played great, but to comment that the Panthers Defense was "porous" is utterly rediculous. They ended up with 11 blocked shots and forced 18 missed shots. The Panthers also out hit the stars 34 to 24. OUR TEAM played a much more spirited and up tempo game then they have in the past. Did you watch the game on television?...That may be why you missed the STRONG forechecking by Allen or Van Ryn blocking shots and keeping the crease clear so Eddie was able to see the puck clearly and not allowing second chance oppertunities. It was not a perfect game but a DAMM GOOD one.

Now that the trade deadline is over, the Panthers can get on with playing as a team. Last night proves that.

Trades should not be allowed during regular season. It should be done off-season and not let the negotiations along with the insecurties they cause to interrupt the flow of the games, especially at a time like now when all teams are hustling to make the playoffs.

This was one of the best games played this season!!! Question though, isn't it an automatic delay of game penality when a player taps the puck over the glass? Barnes tried to 'hand' down the puck in his zone, it goes over the glass and no penalty?!?! Its too bad this chemistry wasn't found earlier in the season or even start of 2007. Definately will be there sat for Tampa..

A great effort. This team is capable of beating ANY team now with our defense. It is obvious to me that Jokinen has been playing injured most of the season. He is like an iron horse. When he is healthy you can sure see the difference. Its a long shot but with a victory Saturday nite we will close the gap to 5 on Carolina. The team needs to put 5 wins together.I am very pleased with what Martin is doing with this club considering the Keenan trade. The next 5 games will tell you alot about mental toughness of this team. When Belfour is on he is actually better than Luongo because he handles the puck so well.

I would expect Saturday's game against Tampa Bay to be a really good one, up and down, fast paced, hard hitting, etc.

Trust me I'm not a big supporter of Scum Sentinel's hockey beat writers, but before you get on Silver's case...

You may want to consider some facts prior to putting our defense on a pedestal:
1) We are -20 in goal differential
2) We are fifth worst in the East in goals allowed.
3) We gave up seven goals at home to the League's worst team - LA Kings

One game against a tired team on a long road trip does not make a defense great. Continuous and relative defensive success does.

The comment was clearly stated and was based on the ONE game. I did not mention the whole season. I was just trying to point out that this reporter is obviously trying to grandstand and better his position with Panther fans by promoting the (IMO) most popular Panther and making it seem like the others were there just to meet the on ice minimum player requirement. I can't argue with you about the season, I wouldn't be able to win that one.

Granted, I am a "glass half full" kinda person, but does a 6-2-2 recorded in the last 10 games and a 6 game point streak (4-0-2 with 3 of the wins in OT or shootout) mean anything? I have the same frustrations over an entire season as anyone, but I at least recognize what the Panthers have done in the past few weeks. It is unlikely that they will make the playoffs, but you know what? There is still a chance for a Cinderella story, and with hope, the Panthers MIGHT still get in. Likely? No....BUT then again, that hope is what makes watching sports and being a fan worth it.

Peace!

It was a good game for the Cats, but let's face it. Dallas is a playoff bound team. The Panthers are not. I know this sounds like sour grapes, but getting these wins now is like winning a small door prize. It's nice, but it doesn't really blow your socks off with excitement. Dallas isn't in our conference or division so technically this wasn't even really a must win game. Nevertheless, it was nice not to lose in OT for a change.

This guy is a piece of work. Points ARE points at this stage. You win..and the guys in front of you don't ..you pass them and get in. BTW, I figured you to bi&&h about winning a door prize of ANY size..probably just wouldn't be good enough. Pathetic.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Virgo

This is not a day for sitting still if you can possibly avoid it because it will be a fast track to bad temper and sharp-tongued outbursts. Have plenty of short breaks, go for lots of walks or work up a sweat in the gym in your lunch-hour. If you're driving, keep an eye on the speedometer because it will be very tempting to go too fast and you'll be furious if you're caught.
