Wang is a phony and is shamelessly using/playing everybody-He cares nothing for the team or the fans but is only using them to try to get to the only thing he cares about-the gross overdevelopment of the site. Wang MUST be stopped and not permitted to succeed in his disgraceful plan. He's bluffing-he'll never move the team, instead if he is stopped he will dump it like he did the Dragons, his Plainview project etc.

mike wang didn't dump the dragons the league folded. i dont understand why long islanders such as yourself, or maybe you're not a long islander, who are AFRAID of development. who are AFRAID of improvement. take a trip over to hempstead tpke and drive down, see if you see ANYONE else investing money into that run down area.

residents of hempstead/uniondale and the surrounding areas should be down on their knees thanking god that somebody, ANYBODY wants to invest MONEY into that crack slum! the only thing that area has going for it is the islanders and if they leave you can guess what will happen to the crime rate and quality of life in the area.

WAKE UP LONG ISLAND! narrow minded thinkers like "mike" here is whats KILLING us.

As a former Long Islander who lives in Florida but continues to support and watch the Islanders on Direct Tv. Please do what ever it takes to keep the Isles on Long Island. Our team is on the verge of breaking out. Hopefully with a healthy Diepietro and a great 09 draft plus and current talent maybe playoffs in 2010.

Are the Isles REALLY playing better than the best teams in the NHL right now?

Or is it more these top teams have either A. already made the playoffs & established a top seed & are only playing out the string haphazardly to avoid any injuries - or B. look at the Isles team & see a bunch of AHL Players & are severely underestimating them, thinking it's gonna be a sure thing, easy as pie win, and therefore playing half-a$$ & dogging it, enabling the Isles to sneak by with a win.

10 games in March suggest the Isles are one of the best teams. 60 games from November to February suggest the other teams are now doing either A or B.

I was lucky enough to have grown up at a time to see the 1980 USA Olympic Hockey Team topple the dreaded Soviets at the hieght of the Cold war. At a time when being a kid was sometimes scary, thinking about nuclear devastation that we were told could possibly start by mistakes.
I watched as Ken Morrow went from the Gold medal platform to the New York Islanders and win four Stanley Cups in his first four years in the league!!!
I believe this team is stepping its way into contention and needs the energy, confidence, newness the "Lighthouse Project" will bring.
The fans deserve this the most!!! They are the private investors that continually show up and buy the tickets and the concessions and the keepsakes and jerseys and anything team related.
What do these loyal investors get in return??? A crap-ass decades out of date coliseum and alot of pitiful teams for the past 15 years.
These Islanders are young and need to be supported by everyone. They have the unconditional support of the fans and ownership but what they do need is for Nassau County and New York State to realize how important the Islanders and the "Lighthouse Project" are to the most important players in this equation, the Taxpayers!!! The fans and Wang are the most important taxpayers and they have been steadily financing this run down oversized warehouse for long enough.
I really hope this project and not the Islanders takes off.

i would like to see the NY ISLANDERS stay at the arena because i watched a lot of great moments there. i remember the frist Stanley Cup win over philly. i remember watching bobby nystrom scoring the winning goal. i remember a lot of good times there. there should be a lot more history to be made there. i think this buch of players can do some of what the old ISLANDERS have win some CUPS. LETS GO ISLANDERS.

It's a little bit of both. The isles are definately improving though.

i have been a diehard islander fan since birth, but im starting to get tired of seeing this team be the laughing stock of the national hockey league. my patience is staring to run out on this team and i think its time for them to either accept that they will never amount to anything and move on or put together a new team, and arena. i dont think the islanders need the new lighthouse project because the town of hempstead has offered to build a new stadium not a new big circus. wang needs to be a true hockey fan, no a true islander fan and give the people what they wantand that is a team that will make it past the first round in the playoffs. but i dont think that will ever happen while i am alive.

Iwas watching the Bruins brodacast yesterday and the Bruins are running a promotion and you can get a Mike Milbury bobble head doll and the figure is wearing boxing gloves. I can think of a much better word than "Bobble" to preceed the word head. I'm trying to figure out why the boxing gloves. Because Milbury took such beatings whenever he fought? We all know he's brain damaged must be from taking so many punches. The bruins are going to honor this guy? For what? Just thinking, I'm imagining Milbury as the arab who threw the shoe at Pres Bush. The only thing is Milbury wouldn't have thrown it,he would have beaten Bush with it.

Bingo....you're a smart man-
The Islanders are beating teams who are playing with nothing on the line-
They get slapped by the Wild and beat Detroit- Say no more-

Detroit is in a dog fight for the top seed in the west. If you think they have nothing to play for then you aren't paying attention.

That said, they probably took the Isles a bit lightly going into that game... not because they didn't intend to play hard and win but because they thought it would be easy. They also got bit by 5 goal posts during that game. It's not like the Wings weren't going all out.

:) The Isles have been at or over 500 since the all-star game... if you dream that the teams they have beat in that time all havent had a reason to win, youre nuts.

Keep dreaming about what? Is Detroit not in a battle for the top seed in your version of reality? Did they not hit 5 posts in the game vs. the Isles?

You're a moron. If you're not mentally equipped to have a reasonable conversation then just go away.

Not to chime in on your little bitch fight but you did say in your post that the Wings probably did take the Islanders lightly- I think the Islanders are playing better but it's hard to really confirm if they're getting better or if teams are taking them lightly- Personally I feel they're being taken lightly in alot of cases- A team just doesn't get better unless they add better players which they have not done- The true test will be in October when the 2009-2010 season opens- We'll see if they beat the Rangers and Devils when it really means something- I think fans are setting themselves up for a huge disappointment if they believe this team has turned the corner- In time guys like Okposo, Neilson and Comeau will be on the opponents radar and good opponents will have an answer for them...right now, nobody's really doing anything to contain them- Mike Babcock (Redwings Coach) said it himself in an interview- He knew nothing about them, he hasn't watched them - Once the Islanders start making noise, other teams will be more prepared for them and then we'll see if this team is for real of not-

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Taurus

Someone is very short-tempered, and they're liable to fly off the handle at a moment's notice. Maybe they're feeling vulnerable in some way or are desperately trying to defend what they see as their territory. Be sensitive to this and don't goad them into being even more irritable or upset than they are already. Frankly, it's just not worth it.
