Don't forget Andy Bathgate, who was the all-time leading scorer for the Rangers for many years. He wore number 9 for many years. Make sure he's invited to the ceremony next year.

If you look at the stats, it's about as funny as Nystrom getting his number retired from the Islanders. Nystrom's career stats are 235 G 279 A in 900 games. Graves had 280 G 227 A in 772 games. Also Graves only played 2 seasons in Edmonton where he had a total of 16 G and 30 A over those 2 seasons. This is for the edification of all the Isle fans who continue to spew weak posts without looking up any references to back up what are essentially inane comments. Your collective lack of knowledge on hockey continues to astound since so many have so much to say.

Barry Becks Afro wrote: <quoted text> ....and the number of banners hanging in the coleseum that were earned while Nystrom played for the Isles is? Come on now......you just might know the answer to this one. Now, how many for Graves? As usual, you are mixing apples and oranges with team and individual honors. The amount of banners has nothing to do with earning the honor of having your number retired. There were alot of other players that were on the Isles from 1980-1983. Should they have their numbers retired? I was comparing stats of two individuals on their bodies of work with their respective teams.

Barry Becks Afro wrote: <quoted text> Your first sentence says it all, and I thank you for blatently pointing it out. For it was Nystroms "team first" effort (not individual statistical c.rap) on a night in night out basis that earns him a banner and earned the Isles all those Stanley Cup banners. If you feel that Graves gave that to the Rangers, then so be it, he may just deserve a banner as well (from a Ranger point of view). So, when will Richter get his banner? Let me guess, the announcement will be made on Adam Graves night? If that's the case then why aren't there other guys from that era with their jerseys retired besides guys who had good stats. No Tonelli, Goring, Morrow, etc. Are you saying they weren't team first guys? You can't have it both ways. Thanks for responding with such an easy post to reply to. Richter's jersey is already retired. If you are going to comment on the rangers, it helps if you have an inkling of what you are talking about. Again, typical of an Islander fan who only has blind hate for their chief rival. grow up kid.

Still waiting for an answer to my last post to you. And since you imply that only Rangers on the cup winning team have their jerseys retired, Barry richter would not qualify. You might want to educate yourself a little better troll boy.

I think your Afro has gotten in the way of viewing what winning the cup and taking it down the Canyon of Heroes is all about. Face it, your Isles will always be 2nd class (at best) to the Rangers. Most Isles fans are disguised as Ranger fans when they play at the Mausoleum. You and the fifteen other real fans will always eat our dust.

Let's face it, it was going to be the isles or the rags for the 8th seed and a quick exit at the hands of ottawa. the rags really have nowhere to build going forward, but at this point I hope the isles just tank, sell at the trade deadline for picks/decent young players, and wind up with a high draft pick next summer. With lots of cap space and some decent free agent's, it could be a quick turnaround.

Islanders can still get in as well. Still alot of games to be played...
