Tortorella on Game 7: There's no pressure on us

Full story: Newsday

Pretty simple: Win or go home. The Rangers haven't played a Game 7 since the Stanley Cup run in 1994, but they will tonight at Verizon Center against the Capitals, who erased a 3-1 deficit in this best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

"Most of our guys are trying, our top players. I think it's a matter of feeling pressure to score a goal at a key time."

But there is no pressure on the Rangers?

How did the Rangers blow this series?

How is there no pressure on the Rangers?

Wait, I hear some rigning. I think its the phone.

"Hello? HELLO?!"

Hmph, no one was there.

The Rangers just made it into the playoffs and are against a higher seed.

"Hey Mike!" "Yes Eric?" "Pick up the phone, can't you hear it ringing?!"
"Yes, I heard it Lindros, settle down!"
"Hello? HELLO?!"

Oh yes Torts there is pressure on your team. You had a 3-1 series lead & then your team goes to hell the last 2. Add to that Sean Avery's reprehensible behavior & then you paint the kettle black with your egregious behavior the other night with the water bottles. Yes fans can be nasty & personal but sometimes you have to learn self control. Almost looked like the Palace at Auburn Hills from 5 years ago. Sorry but you're going down in flames tonight. Lundqvist better have his A game & then some otherwise summer vaykay is on the way!

your an idiot. the rangers shouldn't even be in a game 7 with the caps. its been david vs. goliath the whole series. the rangers shouldn't have won any of these games. the caps are a far superior team and even if the rangers win, they won't get past the next round. all the pressure is on the caps tonight. a 7 seed is not supposed to beat a 2 seed. whats worse then losing a game 7 at home to a 7 seed? as far as tortarella is concerned, that fan should be jailed. how would you like it if someone came to your job and heckeled you and tossed beer on you while you were working. caps fans are trash

Of course there is no pressure on a team that has won the Cup only once in 70 seasons.
And Torture-ella is a big liar that he has no pressure.
This guy looks like he is ready to blow a gasket during the National Anthem.
He throws water at a stupid fan and he has no pressure when it's do or die in a 7th game? And this after having a 3-1 lead in the series?
Torture=ella is a phony.
He better feel the pressure or he will be marked as a phony loser.
If not, he will continue the stRANGERS tradition of One Cup since 1940 !!!!

wow, water bottles? even Milbury knew that to take care of business you beat fans with the shoes they wore to the game...

Rangers are under pressure but they have had the upper hand for the last two games and did not take care of business. Tonight will show what the Rangers are made of.

I'm sorry, I know he's Saint John around these parts and can do no wrong, but I do not like Tortorella one bit. You guys can kill Renney all you want, but at least the guy had class. Tortorella is a punk and quite honestly I think he's an overrated coach. His act will wear thin very fast in New York and we'll be back on the Glen Sather coaching carousel once again like before the lockout.

Stranger things have happened in this game before- At the start of this series I thought the Rangers would win 1, maybe 2 games total....here they are in Game 7-
Iwouldn't know how to pick this one-
It could go either way depending on what teams show up- The Caps in game 1 and 2 were not the same Caps in games 3,5 and 6 and vice versa for the Rangers- This should be a good one- Blair Betts is far more valuable to the Rangers than Brasheer is to the Caps....this could be the difference maker- Could prove to be a wise choice by Brasheer-

The true upset has already happened, the choke artists from San Jose lost yet again last night. Rangers go quietly tonight on their way to the first tee shot, Tortorella doesn't. Don't worry they will buy a whole new team again next year.

Avery's reprehensible behavior ? He took some dumb penalties that did NOT result in a loss. Pointing fingers at 1 person or incident is just a cop out. Simple fact is the Rangers haven't played a full 60 minutes this series and have been outplayed in just about every game. Most people thought the Rangers wouldn't even make it to 7 games. Hopefully, they'll sieze the opportunity.

I'm a life long Rangers fan and I feel no pressure. Blueshirts are going up against a more tallented team and I figure the season is probly over. That said you never know what can happen in a game 7. Couple of bounces go the Rangers way or Henrik returns to form that he had going in games 1 and 2 and it could be a huge upset. Either way I will take watching playoff hockey over being a low life that has nothing better to do then come on to Rangers post boards and wait for another NHL draft.
