You're an idiot. Of course the rest of the nhl would have more suspensions than the canadian teams. Look at the numbers 23 us based teams 7 canadian. hmmm wonder why the US has more?

Its a disproportionate number compared to the Canadian teams. 1 out of 10 suspensions involves a group of one out of six teams. 3 out of 10 suispensions were for infractions against canadian teams. Thats not an even split.

YOU are an idiot.

Well I agree you might have a agrument there for the suspensions, there is probably no way of ever knowing if it is true or not.

The argument you might want to take a look at is the discrimination of the NHL against First Nations (Native American) players. We have always known that a talented native player needs to be more exceptional than another player in the hockey world, including junior, college, and minor pro hockey, it shows that the NHL has a bias too. The hockey world in general has the stereotypical attitude towards native players, ie: drunks, homesick, and not team players, this will cause a lot of teams to pass on a player who is not exceptional. Well after watching Colin Campbell suspend Chris Simon for 30 games for stepping on another player's leg and turn around and give Chris Pronger 8 games for the same kind of leg stomp is clear evidence of this. Now you could argue Simon is a repeat offender, but that doesn't fly because so is Pronger.

I would love to know how Colin Campbell justifies or distinguishes between these two incidents other than the there race?

This is preposterous. How can anyone even suggest there is an officiating bias? The stats may sway from time to time, but they are not glaring at all. What ultimately determines the length of suspension are a player's prior history with suspensions, the team's history of supensions that season and the severity of the infraction includign the damage done to another player. So far, every suspension I've seen handed out has been more than fair for either Canadian or US based teams. Occasionally rulings seemed too harsh or soft, but this often subjective to fans or rivals of the team. Unlike penalties, there are no such things as "mercy suspensions" to even the punishment. A suspension is a suspension and there is no way to make that equitable across all teams. Naturally Canadian teams will have fewer suspensions because they have fewer teams. Moreover, players form Canadian teams are under much heavier media and fan scrutiny than teams that exist in less traditional hockey markets. In other words, players can often get away with things in Florida that would be instantly penalized in hockey-crazy cities where the overwhelming reaction of the crowd forces officials to review video and often take immediate action. This is not a ref bias. It's the nature of the game, what venue it takes place in and how the game is played. While it is true that star players tend to get more preferential treatement by refs, it by no means indicates that there is a glaring bias against TEAMS. If any team had a star player, they too would want infractions quickly called against any player trying to hurt their star player. Reason being, knocking them out of the line-up hurts the team and league as a whole with ratings. Anyone who tries to make an argument that there is an officiating bias betweeen Canadian and US teams is standing on shaky stats.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Scorpio

A loved one is extremely upset today, and you'll soon know all about it. Things are out of proportion, so a minor hitch becomes a huge drama that means you've got to drop everything in order to calm them down. Hey ho. At least it won't last long. If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you won't have as much patience as usual and nor will anyone else.
