This is why I and so many others are turning away from professional sports...it seems that so frequently, whatever the sport, we read about lacklustre effort and nights where they just don't "show up"....no mystery about it either: THEY'VE GOT THEIR CONTRACTS and that's really what it's all about for them!

Enough with the excuses and meaningless lip service. Put in the effort, get the job done and get rid of the slackers. Rolston, for example, talks a good game, but recently hasn't produced. Once in awhile he gets off a decent shot, but otherwise does not help the team.(He's one of several who need an attidude adjustment)

This was a perfect opportunity for Lemaire to call out players names for the lack of effort in past and last night nights games like he did for Parish the other day. I guess Parish isn't the only guy.

Agree with all of the above, especially kabbro. It's getting to be that the players don't carry the same urgency to win that the fans do. We observe and can't act; we have to count on the team to win for us so we're happy (isn't that what pro sports do?), but when these guys can't score more than two goals a game and appear to be dreaming of golf, we're left frustrated and cheated. Time to forget the Wild. They have their 18,000 lemmings that will show up at the home games no matter how tiresome the team plays.

Kabbro, you really should stop reading the sports page if you are "turning away" from pro sports! You and hdog actually think that these players don't want to win every time they are on the ice? Have you ever put on a jersey? Of course they are trying, if you don't keep your head up in the NHL you are going to get killed! It is idiotic to think that "they've got their money", so now they don't care. If these players don't produce, they will be out of the league and working 9 to 5 for their dough like the rest of us. It's called a "slump", it happens to all teams, and it is correctable. But they need to correct it soon, or they will be on the outside looking in.

Culpurple I suppose you still believe in santa claus also. Once these guys get their contracts it is guarranteed money. they don't have to get real jobs.they may still want to win but obviously not as much as the other teams. anybody watching the wild can see they really aren't trying very hard lately. other than in minnesota , hockey is by far the lowest rated sport on tv,bowling used to get higher ratings on espn.face it, hockey is boring to watch and our team is not very good.

I am a season ticket holder for the Wild. I waited a long time to get my tickets. I have been very frustrated watching the Wild this season. I am tired of the excuse "we didn't start off well." The coaches and players need to step up and work together. Jacques comments to me mean he can't explain why his team can't get out of the gate. Isn't his job to know? Being their coach, shouldn't he find a way to motivate them to play? Shouldn't these players be motivated already to play their best? I am starting to think the best thing that could happen is for them to miss the playoffs. Trade Gaborik and let their free agents go. Fire the GM and the coach and start fresh. When the players and coaches don't know what is going on, it is time for the lemmings to speak out. I realize they are close to making the playoffs, but when over 50% of the conference makes the playoffs, it is not saying much.

Nanne you are just as dumb as the other 2 that Culpurple was talking about. Saying that because they got their contracts gauranteed or not, they don't care to win as much as other teams is absolutely rediculous. If they constantly went out and gave a poor performance, they would get cut and no other team would even think of picking them up, so they would be done. Sure they would have their "gauranteed" money, but that would only last so long, especially with the lifestyle pro athelets live, so yes they would have to go get a 9-5 job like the rest of us. Get a clue, not being able to score is more than just our offense not executing, the other team does play defense in front of us. If you guys hate the NHL so much go ahead and tune into bowling then.

Well, things have worked out pretty good for me. I'm "done", but I certainly don't need a "9-5 job" like the rest of you, Realistic: I'm STILL making 2.2 million dollars per year...FOR THE NEXT EIGHT YEARS! That's the difference between contract workers and "at-will," 9-5 workers like you.

Don't you think it's an odd coincidence that no one is openly questioning the effort of the "minimum wage" players? Why do you think that is?

Maybe you can ship off the Slovak Mafia this summer for some North American players with character, ones that are driven to win The Cup. Maybe not.

See you on the links!

I hope the wild enjoy golfing while the rest of the teams compete for the stanley cup. Get rid of lemaire and his anal defensive strategy.

Crybabies. If you don't find it entertaining then don't watch the games. Everytime they lose it is the same crappy postings. Fire Lemaire, Risebourgh sucks, team of 18,000 are suckers.....blah blah.

Lemaire is a great coach, this is a good team.

Turn out the lights, the party is over! We need the play offs to come right now. Usually teams get amped up for them and show a lot more energy, but I'm afraid we may not make it. One center would have made a huge difference in how we are playing right now... not only physically, but emotionally. The front office laid an egg and the players know it because they are playing like it.

Now here are comments that make sense. And the guys that are ripping us don't understand how long it will be before we have a bona fide contender under the present regime. Or maybe they just don't care.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
