Does this team even want to make the playoffs? Is that not the goal here?? because it sure as hell doesn't look like it...

Good lord, aren't there enough 'new' players on this team to forget what a miserable existence we have when playing IN Raleigh? Weiss better not be gone for any length of time or we're in serious trouble. The 3rd period was pathetic. We should have come out of tonight's game in a 4 way tie for 1st, but of course, we're still in 4th.... Pretty ironic I got my renewal form in the mail today. After this performance (as usual) I'm not sure I care to subject myself to any more!!

It's over. They should trade everyone they can and stockpile draft picks for the future.

Another late game collapse. Nothing new here. the cats have been losing games late for many years now. You'd think they would get over the hump one of these years... just not this one.

Why wasn't johanson benched after the weak pass which lead to a goal? so many bad plays, they didn't deserve to win. they were given the 4-2 lead and blew it. team/coach not ready to make it even partly through the playoffs.

Groundhog day passed, nobody told them.

Quote from Vokoun after the game: "It's unbelievable," Vokoun said. "I don't think words can describe it. It just shows you our lack of commitment to defense. Many times it didn't cost us but today it cost us dearly. We basically had the game and gave it to them. There is no secret to it."

Key words from him is "LACK OF COMMITMENT TO DEFENSE." We have one of the, if not the WORST defense in the league. Our D is pathetic... blown assignments, horrible turnovers, can't clear the zone, stupid penalties, can't block shots, can't protect a lead, non-aggressive, etc. etc. Our D is an utter joke and championships are won with solid D. Why do you think Vokoun LEADS THE NHL in shots faced by far?? By over 200 shots compared to the 2nd place goalie on that list. It's because the Panthers D is a pathetic joke. If it weren't for Vokoun we would by far be the worst team in the East, by far! No playoffs for 2007-08 with this garbage D, let's look forward to 2008-09.....Same ole story year after year after year after year.....

I think the problem with the D and with the shots was the same when we had Luongo. Its the wierdest thing, you can change out the players, you can change the coaches you can change the name on the front of the arena (twice) but there still seems to be this funk surrounding this team and its been going on ever since Cohen took over. And the really sad part is there is no light at the end of the tunnel, the team can't draft for s**t, they can't scout for s**t, they've NEVER been able to land even a decent sized fish in the free agent market and they have had 1 decent trade in the history of the franchise. I'm fully convinced that its really time to let this franchise go.

I predicted over three weeks ago that Samsonov would be responsible for helping to eliminate the Panthers from playoffs. A couple posters flamed me for even suggesting that Martin should have picked him up. Looks like I was right on the money again. Meanwhile we've got cement boots Cullimore and the AHL mickey mouse club to help us with our "playoff push". Way to be a solid GM there Martin!

Sorry I missed the big win against Washington (had to work late). Looks like the team celebrated too early. Oddly I predicted Florida to lose against Washington and to win against Carolina. Oh well, it's all in the timing I guess.

ah, oh well. At least we got one weekend of hockey this year that actually meant something and had playoff implications to it. That's better than what's been provided for the last 7 years, at least.

Good post. Current ownership is a joke. Cohen has no commitment to winning. His commitment is to plaster another sponsor in various places of the BAC. Such places include the urinals of the lower level men's restrooms and the garabage cans. I honestly don't think we have even a decent AHL team on the ice. We probably would not win the AHL championship, let alone sniff the NHL playoffs. I can't bear to re-new my season tickets after watching 8 years of this minor league cr*p on the ice.

Boy did Johanson cost us the game. Him and Mezei...with so many soft passes.Pathetic pathetic pathetic. Go get Cambell or Boyle and quick Martin if you want any chance if not trade Olli, Mezei, Van Ryn, Peltonen, Stumpel, Dvorak, for a 6th round draft pick...You are joke

AHL Mickey Mouse players is right. David Brine, Tanner Glass, Anthony Stewart, Stefan Meyer, Magnus Johansson, Branislav Mezei, and Jason 'cement shoes' Cullimore would never, ever see playing time in Ottawa, Detroit, Dallas, New Jersey or Anaheim. There guys are AHL scrubs. These guys will lead us to the playoffs? Yea, and a little Leprechaun lead me to a pot of gold the other day while on Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

2 goal lead in the 3rd and can't finish the game. When the time came they could not put up. No heart, go outworked in the last period. I blame Martin, he can not get the team any further than he already has, he can not motivate and lead the lead. Notice what happened to the Sens after he left(cup finals). The cats need someone who can lit a fire under their and build a tough team, a la brian burke(i know im dreaming, he won't even leave the ducks for the leafs job).

This organization/team never fails in teasing me, and making me look foolish.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
