Panthers' Belfour tough in shutout

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

The Panthers didn't give up a goal in two games at the Bell Centre this season. Thanks to Ed Belfour, this time around they were able to leave Montreal with a win.

You post here for every panther's article and you've not said one thing positive ever. I had season tickets for 11 years before I moved up to NC 6 months ago and yes, it's been extremely frustrating but they won last night, had a great effort, and you still make negative comments. You leave the impression you're certainly a glass half empty kind of guy.

Nope. I love the team or I wouldn't care or bother posting. I also recently wrote very nice comments about the Phoenix game. I'm just tired of this team missing the playoffs for 10 seasons. It is very frustrating. Especially since each season it is the same story. The Cats usually start off strong. They then take a nose dive in October through January. Then in February when they are in a hole and decide to play solid hockey again. Then they miss the playoffs always by 2 to 4 points which means we then lose out on the #1 draft pick. Like the movie Ground Hog Day this nightmare happens season after season after season. It is the worst possible position a team could put itself in. Meanwhile, teams that were far worse than the Panthers have long since passed them by. It wouldn't be so disappointing if we saw signs of progress, but with our goaltending future in doubt and guys like Horton, Gelinas, Bertuzzi, Roberts, etc. set to leave this club I don't see many bright spots. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they even traded Jokinen at this point. It just is an endless sad story with this franchise.

No one said this win turned around the season or the last decade. I just don't get South Florida fans....it is moan about the Marlins, moan about the Dolphins, moan about the Panthers (I don't pay attention to the Heat, but I am sure it is moan about them too!). Face it, we do not support our teams unless they win. If they don't win, they suck and it is the God's given right to complain, they don't show up to the game, and blame incompetent owners or coaches for the teams performance. The excuses never change, and actually, it is tiring. I am betting that the same people that come on here just to complain are the same one's that go to Panther games and yell "SHOOT!" everytime the Panthers touch the puck.

I don't moan about the Dolphins..I hate 'em!!! Marlins?..they are a non-entity! People support the Panthers..consider the last 10 years, then...google NHL team attendance, I think you'd be surprised to see who is behind us. South Florida IS a hockey town.

Hmmmm. As usual, another win and everyone is patting each other on the back. Well, before you get overly excited and rush to the BAC to get your playoff chits and t-shirts....

Did anyone notice that even after this win we are third to last in the East?...second to last in our own Division. There are still NINE points and FIVE teams between us and the last playoff spot?

Munch on this morsel: We need more than a weekly win to improve this pathetic franchise!

Very funny actually. There's nothing worse than sitting directly in front of someone that knows zero about hockey but thinks they know it all and won't shut up the whole game.

I agree with everyone in saying that one win is not going to suddenly shoot you to the top of the standings. While it is a step in the right direction, it takes an effort like this all season not in the last month when you realize time is running out. With Belfour playing solid the team has a chance but as old as he is, it doesnt matter how good of shape he is in, his age will catch up with him and from what Auld has shown in his last few starts, if he every had any confidence its gone by now. Florida most likely wont make the playoffs (shocking huh?) this season and unless they fix their goaltending situation because Belfour will probably retire and Auld is not a stable starter if even backup, they wont make it in any time soon. I don't want to sound pessimistic because I watch every game believing they can win, but at some point you have to face up to reality and realize it might be too late.
