Huet stops 30 shots, Blackhawks beat Canucks

Full story: Chicago Tribune

With their three-game trip through Western Canada already a success, the Blackhawks hoped to head into the Christmas break on a roll like they haven't experienced in over a quarter of a century.

This Huet guy sucks. I say move him and fire Tallon.

Maybe Pulford can come back.

Another awesome example of the Hawks showing how they're learning to win the close ones! The Hawks were clearly a tired team yet eeked out 2 points in a great effort. A sweep in western Canada! Wow I sure didn't expect this, doubt anyone foresaw a sweep on this western swing. WTG Blackhawks!!

Listened to it on the radio as I drove many miles today. Great sounding game. This Hawk team sounds and looks poised for greatness.

It's a shame that the Bears still garnish the front page of the paper, especially when Chicago has a bona-fied winner in the Hawks.

I agree!! Put Pully in the Net, Angelo at Quarterback, and Fat Lou at Short (after he has his baby). All levity aside, Scotty Bowman runs this team now, and Tallon's days are numbered, just like Savvy. Savvy's hosting Hawks parties at bars in Wrigleyville, and Tallon will be doing the same in 3 months. Why? Because Scotty's kid is "assistant" general manger for the Hawks -- but not for long. Huet was the bad move that will cost Tallon his job. And I hope Khabbi gets to boot him in the ass on his way out (with a sharpened skate). He tried to dump him and I think after 30 games every Hawk fan sees what a big money-saving mistake that would have been. GOOOOOOO Hawks!!!!! GOOOO Tallon -- out the door!!

Everyone who is calling out Dale Tallon needs to stop and look at what he has brought to the table. He has traded nobodys and has acquired players like Patrick Sharp, Kris Versteeg and Andrew Ladd. I personally thought getting rid of Ruutu for anything was worth it, but after seeing what Ladd has been capable of... WOW.

And these were all moves before Scotty Bowman came to the team. So GFY!

LETS GO HAWKS!

Huet won this game hands down! Although big Buff had a couple of great chances but couldn't finish. I think it's safe to say that we won't be seeing Buff in any shootouts. Kane and Sharp, awesome shots. Kane's? A backhand roof shot? That's sic! The Blackhawk train keeps rollin....Enjoy the break fellas you deserve it!....GO HAWKS!

Just a quick comment about Tallon.I've bashed this guy for the better part of the last 6 months and I will not sing his praises until I see where this team ends up at the end of the year...Everything's great now but it's still early..If I catch some flack from this so be it...

Vunderbar!!!!!!!!!!
What a team we have on our hands this year. The hawks have established themselves as a team that can win at home, can win on the road, can win the close ones. The other teams are n going to have a lot of trepidation when the hawks are coming to town.
Last night Van scores first but no worry, we keep our game plan intact, tie it up,score the winner and add an mt netter for to seal er up.
Penalty killing was flawless, but I was worried about too many chances given to Canucks. Huet was great as was the Canuck goalie. Keith and Seabrook have to be the best tandem in the NHL right now. Kane was great, Toews is a leader, hard to believe he is only 20. I was worried the C would affect his game and it did,it made him BETTER.
A great win, a great team effort. Too many guys on a roll to mention all but what a team we have this year. Lets see how we do in the upcoming back to back against the Wings and against Philly. The Flyers are a hard nosed hard hitting team and will be a real test.
No more games until the 26th. Until then let me wish all you wonderful people on the blogs a Merry Christmas and and a Happy New Year. You are a great bunch to talk with and I regard all of you as personal friends. Hockey people just naturally like each other. GO HAWKS!!!!

Huet has stepped up to be the goalie that Tallon thought he was getting when he signed him. I was hard on Huet in the beginning of the year and I take back my harsh comments about him. Huet is showing that he is the real deal, and so are the Hawks. I can't believe my eyes. They are winning games they would always lose. They are on a roll, keep it rolling can't wait for the game on Friday.

That 1981 team turned into a pretty fun team to watch and if it weren't for Gretzky and company I am convinced they would have won the Cup 83. There are a lot of parallels between those teams of the early 80's and this one. They both have dynamic young centers good play at the point and a great goaltending tandem. Lets hope this train keeps building momentum! Go Hawks!

30 of 31, many at point blank range. Cristobal Huet was again outstanding! Anyone who had been doubting his ability can rest easy. His lateral movement with a beautiful fluid sliding pad maneuver was a thing to behold. He looks more confident and certainly more comfortable every time out. As the goalie saying goes, "the puck looked like a beachball" to him. Hardly a dangerous rebound all night! In my humble opinion, this was his best game of the year. He easily gets an A grade. The tandem of Huet and Khabby is the best in the league. I love the way Q is using the 2 guys. Not allowing either one to get rusty. The defense used their sticks to cut off the passing lanes and really shut down the Sedin line didn't they? Speed kills! Man, are they a fast team! A recent critic on these boards said this team can't keep up this pace. For how long can they not keep up the pace? Hey, the outstanding teams do run off 9,10 in a row. Why not the Chicago Blackhawks! Keep the feet moving boys!!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aries

Someone wants to go their own way today and they won't care whose feathers they ruffle in the process. It's a lunar eclipse at the Full Moon in Cancer, so let them get on with it. The last thing you should do now is to hang on to their coat-tails or do anything else that will make them feel restricted. Make it plain that you've got your own fish to fry, thank you very much. And try not to let it stop you enjoying yourself. Have a great night!
