Terrible game in every respect.

I don't think Luongo had to make more than 2 tough saves.

If this was a test of how prepared the Hawks are for playoff hockey, it will be a very short post-season.

Could not be more disappointed with the effort tonight. The melee was fun to watch but the Hawks were outclassed in the biggest game of the season. How are you not up for that game?

You're a Cubs fan too aren't you? One bad game and the sky is falling.

Clearly a disappointing game, even though the Hawks still have the inside track to the fourth seed after the loss. But this is still a very young team that is growing in to itself. Considering that only a few short years ago the Blackhawks finished with a pathetic 59 points, dead last in the conference, and just two years ago finished with a meager 71 points, to have a realistic chance at 100 points and the playoffs this year is outstanding.

Speaking of the playoffs, just how deep did you expect the Blackhawks to go this season anyways? Just making the playoffs is a huge step for the team, and advancing a round would be tremendous. But do you really think the team is ready to contend for the Cup now? Barring a major surprise - one I would love to see - it won't happen this year.

Games like this, with the intensity taken up a notch, are something the Blackhawks don't have much experience with. Hopefully they can draw something positive from the loss for the next one - or more - of these they have.

We are a young team so it's going to be a couple years. Better goaltending will help.

That was nice of Big Bad Buff starting a fight and nowhere to be found and Eager having to step in for him.And Burrish running his mouth instead of dropping the gloves and Keith getting his $$$ kicked what a joke.

This is a great learning phase for the Hawks. Every game for the past two weeks has been a playoff like game. And every game the rest of the way (unless those last two with Detroit become meaningless) will be the same. Obviously it is tough to be up every night but this is what it takes to be the best.

You can't win them all so as long as they get back on the winning side Tuesday and Wednesday perhaps what was learned last night was worth the beating they took.

You are right about having an outstanding year. However, I will say this, we should expect what the Hawks expect of themselves. Just making the playoffs isn't good enough. We deserve a team to be able to compete in the playoffs. You better believe that the players expect the same.

There was no heart or fight in the game until the third period. It was a terrible effort and a boring game to watch. They really need to work on their special teams, especially the PP. Pat and Eddie keep talking about how they so many PP goals in the past whatever games, which is nice, but they need timely and momentum changing PP goals. It is terrible to watch.
I hope they were playing possum in this game...not showing the Canucks everything they have...ha, just wishful thinking. I do like how they mixed it up in the end, showing a little frustration and hopefully this will set the tone for the playoffs.

Hawks looked absolutely terrible... They'd better get their act together or it'll be a VERY short playoff run. ... let's hope they mature next season.

Hawks seem to have something in common with the Cubs. Fade towards the end of the season, and get hammered in the playoffs. I think they need some veteran leadership.

Hawks will get swept in the first round....so hurry up and buy those tickets for two games then you can stay home and watch the Wings hoist another Cup. The only cup Chicago will be drinking from this year is the one stuck in their jock.....

If you follow these boards, you would know that I would consider it an excellent post-season if the Hawks managed to win a first round series, and went deep into the second round. Anything further is pretty unrealistic.

Let's not excuse or sugarcoat that mess last night. It was a terrible performance, no other way to describe it.

And yes, I am a lifelong Cubs fan, from the early Ernie Banks days. That means I know lousy when I see it. ;>)

Look what gets the Hawks higher up in the headline stories!

Who are all you posters? Except for a very few, I've not heard anything from any of you guys. Now you're here and dumping all over the youngest team in the league, who're exploring virgin territory and paying their bones.

Net presence! Yeh, it's not my original thought, but, I spotted it before they started spouting about it endlessly. There was a couple of instances where the "kids" were playing a dominating shift, but, had to wait for Sharpie, Havlat, Toews, or Versteeg (not as much) to take the puck off the perimeter and move in on Luongo, because they had no instincts for crowding the crease with their own aggravating, screening presence.

I make no apologies for thinking that I wouldn't put it past "Q" to have them sandbagging, just a touch. Burish was just being an aggravator all night without much in the way of production. Eager was smacking guys well after they passed off the puck. Sharp was, apparently, not his usual spectacular self. Havlat was the only one I felt wasn't sandbagging. It just all seemed so different from what I have seen from these kids, the last couple of games. I may just be seeing things.

I was disappointed with Buff. I hope it's a one game disappointment.

More to come and it's getting to be dramatic. Remember last year? I missed a lot of it, because I didn't want to get my hopes up. This year I'm not afraid. No matter what happens, it's not going to just be a monster let down. They may not get all the way through, but I guarantee you they won't leave anything in the locker room. It will all be out on the ice, even if bloody.

"They're OUR kids, damnit!"
