A late opportunity comes to nothing

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

The Panthers had a super chance in the final minutes Saturday night to force overtime, steal at least one point and end their horrible streak at the RBC Center.

There's a new excuse for losing games...rumors allegedly are bothering the mental status of
the Captain and seating duck GM and Coach excellence Martin.

Impossible to beat a tired Carolina Hurricanes that played the second night of back to back games and must also be tired of beating the "fresh" Panthers .

When is the Sun Sentinel going to hire a real Hochey writer? What do we learn from this tripe written by Steve Groten? Who played well, or what lines played well? Convervsely what lines or players didn't play well? Without Cory Murphy what defensive pairings worked well together?
What the majority of this article is about is the rumor that Olie is being shopped. Isn't that more appropriate for a side bar article. The first and second periods must not have been played, there isn't a single reference to them. Could you imagine if the Dolphins were covered in this manor. Not only are there quarter by quarter break downs following each game but two or three pages devoted to the worst team ever dressed in Dolphin uniforms. I don't expect that complete of coverage for a team that plays eighty plus games per season but how about some intelligent coverage by a competent writer for the ONLY pro sports team in Broward County. Let Groten write about something he knows about, maybe a celeb gossip report.

Don't trade Olli Jokinen, unless he asks to be traded. He is the only guy who gives 100% every night. Trade Weiss, who is a non-impact player. Change up the lines and bench players for non-performance. If you have to play with 10 players who perform, so be it. The others will sit until they get the message.

Groten has the easiest job in journalism. He gets to write the same article after every game.

Win one, lose 2, win one, lose four... The story goes on and on! When are the fans down here going to demand better? Take all of the money that they spend on all that BS at the home games (IE: Ice Dancers etc) and get better players. Except for Bure, they have never, and I mean NEVER had or brought in a player that other teams coveted! It cracks me up when I hear commericals for games down here where they say "come see Crosby, come see Ovechkin, come see Breire." Always a star on the visiting team. It is simply crazy what goes on down here.

Totally disagree. Since the Panthers give Steve absolutely nothing new to write about on the ice night after night, the "news" of the day was the Ollie stuff. Besides, I'm tired of hearing the same things and the same quotes referring to the play on the ice. I thought it was a refreshing distraction from the reality of our wonderful team. By the way, I'm writing this as I'm decorating my paper bag.

As long as I am ranting.....
The Sun Sentinel two sentence stories detailing all the other games played is beyond pathetic.
When was the last time the Panthers promoted their players other than Olie? We all know what Mellanby, Skrudland, Linsey, Beiser, Bure, looked like. Would you know David Booth if he was sitting next to you?
I gave up blue line season tickets two seasons ago. There are so many better ways to spend $61.00 per game of entertainment money. I now go to games to see the young stars of the other teams rather than the non playoff team the Panthers have become.
If I want to get screwed by the home team, I'll save the money from three home games and go to Goldfingers instead!!!!!!!!!!

How is it possible that my recent posts are nowhere to be found?

Why haven't any of these crack reporters asked Sexton if he has been shopping Olli?

they should shop olli...then shop the rest of this sad sack team including the coaching staff...blow it up and start over,...could hardly be any worse...exactly what has Sexton brought to this team?...waste of money...forget the bbq's...forget the sales pitches...just give us a team and coaching staff that care and put in the effort..

The Panthers are never going to be a good team until they stop the constant complaining and excuse making. Stop crying and play hockey.

This team is mediocre just like its coaches and the reporters down here. No one asks the hard questions. No one demands better performance. This place is pathetic. And talks about trading Ollie, really? How about Weiss, Van Ryn, Salei, Stumpel, McLean, Mezei? Why didn't Martin sign Asham? Why didn't he sign better players or more players? WHy isn't he getting the most out of Weiss, Horton and Allen after giving them big money? Any reporter care to ask these questions??? Stop spending your time and money on this team, stop coming to this stupid website, it's all worthless.

Seraph, he didn't sign Asham (who I agree would add much-needed sand and grit to our poor lineup) because Cohen won't open his purse to pay for a Briere, Gomez, Drury, Souray-type player. He is content ripping-off the fans at the concession stand, and selling every inch of arena space as advertising.

Alan Cohen is pathetic, his no-talent clown minions are pathetic and this team is pathetic.

Thank GOD for NHL Centre Ice!

If it wasn't for that package, I would think that all hockey teams are greedy, slow, boring, uninspired and untalented.
