He needs to stay on as head coach for a long time to get this franchise heading in the right direction. We've had too much of musical chairs in the coaching position. Everyone points to Matthias' scoring last season, but forget to note that he was playing with Ollie - and even McLean looked like a real scorer when he was teamed with Olli. This is Matthias' first full year playing as pro and what you see is all part of the learning process. In the 16 or so games he played this year with the Panthers, Matthias had but 2 assists and was minus-3. Repik has simply come along more quickly, but like Matthias it is his first year playing as a pro and he is still developing.
I have never been a Jacques Martin fan, but in this instance I don't disagree with keeping these kids in Rochester if possible so they can continue to develop. As for knocking DeBoer, that is just plain ridiculous. His coaching this year has been outstanding. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in the pro hockey world who thinks otherwise.
