Yes sir, this Panthers team will be in the playoffs.
No doubt.
The Cats are going to catch fire now and roll on into the playoffs.
You cannot dispute the Iceman.

Unbelievable. If this team is still searching for confidence this late in the season than they might as well pack it in. Most playoff bound teams at this point are beyond the confidence worry and are jostling for desired playoff seedings. Meanwhile Florida is floundering, sputtering and still trying to find their "inner self". Come on already. Does this team need a shrink???

Lets hope they go on a tear and fly into the playoffs. They can if they shed the defensive layed back play and attack for 60 min every night as they did before this streak. They are not good enough to coast. They must play with their foot on the accelerator all the time.

Does it pay to try this:

Anderson is UFA, but does it make sense to try and land him to a "friendly" contract, make him the starter, then try and trade the "cap freindly" contract of Vokoun? Take the money saved from Voloun and plug it into a true starting 1st line center, something this team desperately needs, and doesn't have.

It may be worth the gamble, and looking at Anderson (who I do think is a notch below Vokoun) he may be willing to sign as the starter for a bit of a discount figuring there may only be 2 or 3 teams willing to give him a real nice payday, but those teams may not be better than what he plays with now. Chicago however I believe may be interested. That could be a major factor.

Could be worthlooking at. One thing is for sure, Martin has to stop shopping for D-Men and start focusing on some offense. For all his work on the "D", his teams still give about 45 shots a night. Too many.

This off season we will address this area, and we will address that area.

We will use the $30 saved from JB, and sign an all-star 2-way center, 2 50-goal wingers, and a partridge in a pear tree.

We are continuing to build a strong foundation for the future.

So send me your money now for 2009-2010 AND 2010-2011

I will take your questions at September's Annual Pre-Season Dinner.

Tickets are available now, It's $200/person and I'd like that money now........

Just how sad is it that an a/ssclown from Irvine, California announces to the world that he's "gonna be here..gonna be there"..then, goes there ie. Las Vegas, and sits down to post terminal "comedy" on a message board thousands of miles away.

You are by far the biggest idiot to ever post an idiotic comment. Looking at this board, that's saying something.

Picture a twerpy homo, sitting in Vegas somewhere..alone, doing NOTHING but posting on a laptop...sippy cup closely by it's side.

truly pathetic, and sad.

Takes about 30 seconds to post.

And it's better than you giving money to alan cohen for a decade while they miss the playoffs, haven't won a playpff series in 14 years, and continue to build a strong foundation for the future.......

If you guys cannot make a better argument to defend alan cohen other than "you have no life", "you're an idiot", first, grow up, and then as i said, I travel 150 days a year, while you hide in your mother's basement, and talk like a tough guy on a message board. now that's truely pathetic.

I'm simply pointing out that ac has wrecked this team over the last 10 years. The record is the record.

How about starting a post with:
"You're wrong about alan cohen & the panthers and here's why"..........

(10:30 t-time, catch ya later)......

Basements in South Florida?

Travel 150 days a year? Don't they have a flea market in Irvine to sell t-shirts at?

Bottom line on the Panthers is this. The Panthers play hockey in South Florida. I like having hockey here, they are my team. Can they do better? Yes. Make smarter decisions? Yes. Are they competitive? Yes. Do they seem to have a good coach that can somehow take the screw-ups from the past..and head in the right direction? Yes.

Do I have total faith in guys like Cohen and Yormark? No. Like I said, we have hockey in South Florida, we spend near the cap, put competent guys in there to make decisions and good things can/will happen.

BTW..you're still an idiot and I don't talk "tough".

Later Forrest.

I made almost the same suggestion a few days ago. But the key to this is the question of whether or not Markstrom will be ready to join the team next season. Markstrom is the heir apparent and about the only thing he lacks is maturity and experience at this highest level. He's already playing in the top Swedish league and last I read he was one of the best goalies over there. But as was clear in the World Jrs., he still needs to mature (as Team Canada had little trouble taking him off his game with a host of antics).

The biggest risk is that if Anderson falters, the Panthers will have little to back him up between the posts and then they have to go out and pick up someone else. That will complicate things quite a bit. So having Markstrom ready to go will be important.

I would also point out that the value of an elite goalie is paramount. Look at Columbus, where Mason has made all the difference in the world. He's a lock for the Calder and this season he's probably among the top 4 or 5 goalies in the league (and some would suggest he's in the top 3 along with Brodeur and Luongo). Vokoun isn't among that top group, but it could be argued that when he's on top of his game he is easily among the top 7 to 10. If Anderson can't play at that level, it would spell trouble.

Having said all that, I think the reward might outweigh the risk, especially as Markstrom is projected to be very, very good.
