May all be too late, but it was nice to see them play with playoff grit, finally. And the "franchise" goalie wa just that - but he has to be that three of four games; not one.
Also glad to see them ask for a review - I'm only a casual hockey fan, and got no help from the "expert" announcing team, but I kept wonderin' just what Girardi did that was worthy of a penalty shot - looked like a straightforward check to me. |

top notch reporting again...Ive read the article 3 times, I am still unsure as to what clarification the Rangers are seeking...Do they believe it should not have been a penalty shot? Newsday is terrible sometimes.

Coach Tom and the Rangers could be going back to William Penn's forests tied 2-2, if, among other things, he hadn't chosen to play an undisciplined Ryan Hollweg in game three, and if the "franchise goalie" had actually played like one a game sooner (imagine the Rangers with the Pitt net-minder, and the Pens with the obscenely paid one).

It should neither have been a penalty shot nor a penalty. Girardi pushed him in the back of the shoulder. It is a legal play. It is not interference, not hooking, not holding, not checking from behind...100% legal.
