Ducks set to play waiting game on veterans again

Full story: LA Daily News

Let the Scott Niedermayer/Teemu Selanne retirement watch begin. The offseason guessing game of will-they-or-won't-they is the sequel to the Ducks' latest playoff run, which ended with a climactic Game 7 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

no offense to the future hall of famer Scott Niedermeyer, but the Ducks would do better to let him retire or move onto another team and lock in Francois Beachemin long term. At best, Scotty MIGHT have one more good year left in him, he is clearly on the decline, and Beachemin continuues to improve his game. Think long term, Sellane also is now about half of what he used to be.

We need to cut Rob and Whitney out and bring a couple of young and agressive russian or czech players instead.

Beauchemin did a great job coming back from his injury, and is a solid d man,
but when Scotty took off half of last season, and being THE guy in the second pairing, Beauch stumbled.
He can't carry the load as a 1 or a 2, and will be offered too much as an UFA for the Ducks to match. He;s more than a complimentary "D" but not a 1 or 2
