Minnesota Wild are desperate for a victory

Full story: TwinCities.com

No excuses, Wild coach Todd Richards says. It's time to start winning games. In his first season of directing the Wild, Richards might not know or care that this year's group is zeroing in on the worst start in franchise history.

" Minnesota Wild are desperate for a victory "

Not really!

They are desperate to keep their fan base for sure!

IF this season does go down south & quick we'll fine
out how highly Minnesotans feel about the sport of hockey
in season ticket sales and merchandise bought.

Remember we don't have a single superstar!

We'll see how desperate for a win they are when they hit the ice.

No excuses Richards says.

Can't wait to hear the excuse he'll use.

I can't stand this clown coach. No leadership skills, no heart, no intensity, nothing. We don't even have a captain....why???? What the hell is he waiting for. What he has is excuses after every game.

Amazed to see what Phoenix is doing with Tippet at the helm. Shows you what effective coaching can do for an under talented and unsupported bankrupt team. Is the Wild bagging it (again) to get a coach fired? Also Miko and Anti - where's your sissu?

I love the "we are not as talented so we have to work harder" take. Leopold and Naegle stole this great state's money and slinked out like the vermin they are. The cupboards are bare. You are not going to outwork teams in the NHL who have more talent and get more than a few wins a month.

Ahh, all people who praised the Wild after their fast starts that were followed by playoff fades or no playoffs at all. For 9 years you bought into Riseborough's so called plan. His plan of failed draft choices, worthless free-agents, poor trades, and of course poor farm system.
This is a new system with a new coach, and it is a 72 game season. This season is about finding who can play and who are only marginal players. The GM and coach will be weeding out players and looking for ones that fit. This will lead to a lot of mistakes that cause a lot of losses. Fans need to remember, the farm system is barren, the Wild roster is barren, full of players to old, to marginal, to slow, and that are top draft picks have been busts.
I would rather have them tank for a few seasons and get some top 3 picks in the draft. With Riseborough gone those picks might even prove effective.

These guys didn't want to spend moeny when they started and they don't now.

They hired Jacque to ensure that a no-talent low-buck team gave the appearance of being competitive via the ultra boring trap style.

Chumpy hockey starved Minesotan ate it up like they had steak when really what they had was oscar meyer. Nobody puts lipstick on a pig better than Jacque.

This organization will be exposed for the fraud they've always been to REAL hockey fans. Ten years and past the first round of the playoffs ONCE! But the bead-wearers continue to defend them.....not sure why?

White Powder: The Wild's record will have absolutely no bearing on how anyone in Minnesota feels about the game of hockey. There is high school, the Gophers, etc. All the Wild's record will show is how bad they have been managed in the past and if the new regime has a clue as how to earn back the fan's respect. There is plenty of hockey out there even without the Wild for Minnesota hockey fans. Gaborik is 3rd in the league in scoring for the Rangers. You can always follow a different team until the Wild figure it out.

Effigy, don't they let you comment in the NY papers anymore? Are you really this dour? Relax, you knew Letterman was an egocentric jerk. Is there something else bothering you? You have Gaborik, relax and enjoy it, and stick to the NY papers before you bring another whole city down with your negativity.

If you have watched the Wild games they have been sloppy... This is not the coach, this is the players not playing the system yet. Richards has done a good job making changes during games to adjust. The players have not come to play and the lack of intensity is noticeable. Sheppard, Poulliot need to step it up, skate through checks and give 100%. Defense, sloppy sloppy sloppy.
