Here are some of the things I'm upset about:
1.) Braydon Coburn- I really like this guy. He's developed into a solid top 4 defenseman and is on his way to becoming an elite defenseman in the NHL. But he had an AWFUL game today. The first goal the Leafs scored tonight was off of a turnover, where Coburn was stripped of the puck in the neutral zone. Then the leafs take the puck down the Flyers' Zone and score off a lucky bounce, that went off. Then, he misread the puck at the end of a Flyers PP, while Moore comes out of the box and scores.
2.) Power Play- The Flyers' Power Play was absolutely pathetic tonight, going 0-4, and failing to score on several golden opportunities...Vesa Toskala played well tonight, yes, but the Flyers were really sloppy with the puck and made it easier for the Leafs. I'm happy though that Richards picked up a couple of goals and that their PK is still effective, as they got their 9th short-handed goal of the season.
3.) Martin Biron- This guy seriously needs to learn how to handle the puck and not cause turnovers like he did on the second leafs' goal. He was also out of position during the Leafs' first goal, by over committing to the puck.
The Flyers have 2 days off before they play the Lightning. They must regroup and get back into the win column, because as of now, they're still in 6th place, and have fell behind Montreal by 3 points and Pittsburgh by 4. They remain 1 point ahead of the Devils, who fortunately, are off until Thursday, when they play the Flyers in Philly.
Overall, the Leafs definitely played harder than the Flyers and I give them a lot of credit for how effective their PK was, how solid Vesa played, and how hungry they were for a win...but, the Flyers need to do a better job with their PP, which although is 5th in the league, has struggled 4 of the last 5 games or so....except for yesterday.
