Isles' Gordon get to evaluate talent in final run

Full story: Newsday

It's hard to believe the Islanders still are last in the NHL after a 25-game stretch in which they compiled a 12-9-4 record.

Not really a fan of Sutton, and with Guerin gone, as much as i like Weight, lets see what we can get for him, assuming hes signed for next year.

It's obvious that next year, between Okposo and Bergenheim (with Bailey and a high 09 pick) we will have plenty of firepower from the offense

After a horrible season I'm really proud of the way these guys are coming together as a team. But I still want that number one pick in the draft so I would have no problem finishing last in the NHL. Lets just hope the front office can get its act together. Here is a list (1) Get the Lighthouse thing done. NOW!(2) Figure out how to get rid of DP.(3) Get one or two quality free agents in the off season to play with our yong talented players. Do those three things and we will be ok.

Gordon will win coach of the year next season. Kudos to him for surviving this season.

I'll be disappointed if DP doesnt come back next year with a chip on his shoulder. He should have a big year if he is able to stay healthy.

Logan-good point-they've been playing well enough for a long period of time-you would of thought they would of been out of last place.

First thing we have to do is lose tonight so Carolina can pick up some points to hopefully beat out the Ranger$ for a playoff spot and also to help cement our last place standing. I hate to see us lose but we have to face reality, there's no sense in sitting in the bottom all year and then lose the #1 or 2 pick in the last few weeks of the season.Losing can be guaranteed by playing McDonald (give me that filet of fish, give me that fish...the most annoying commercial during the games , that and Geico)and get Sutton back into the lineup. Watch the goals against go up, up , up. Keep Rechlicz in the lineup we need some toughness. Jackman plays much better than he fights(he reminds me of the Bayonne Bleeder).

I agree.
Plus-the draft looks deep so getting the 3rd or 4th pick isnt the end of the world.

Gordon coach of the year in 2009-10? Snow GM of the year also? Dead last place, a few meaningless wins that count for nothing, no leadership, and unreasonable expectations for marginal prospects. Don't just jump on a bunch of false promises that we've already heard. Take a good look at this organization and demand change starting from the top. Gordon will be gone by mid-season next year as well most of these "super kids". A more important question should be asked; Why is it that any veteran playing for the Isles is automatically considered washed up or a malcontent? Only rookies are wise and deserving to play for this team? What will happen to Streit after a bad season? Gordon had the audacity to call Bill Guerin, the team's Captain, a bad apple? Let's see how they spin the departure of Doug Weight and Brendan Witt. The only reason we need a lighthouse is to see through the smokescreen that management is blowing up the fans behinds. Lets wake up.

LOL, I LOVE that filet o fish commercial!!! Only bad thing is it plays over and over in your head all day but I still think its genius. Loosen up, Sandy.
Rechliz is back in Bport (although he MAY be back), Sutton will be back next week and Weight possibly by end of month as well as MacDonald. All signs point to last place finish so relax. Oh did I say that already.

Oh and the game is FRIDAY night just in case you're looking for it later.

Give me back that filet o fish, give me back that fishhhhh........;)

Your Ranger obsession is touching but if Carolina wins right now, it only changes theirs and the Rangers seeding for the time being. As of right now, both teams are in the top 8, you can hope for your team to throw games to Florida and Buffalo if they play them anymore this year to try and get the Rangers out of the playoffs. Love the mindset of trying to make the Islanders significant, ya looser ya.....

Hey Battfist,
Bedbug? You're one of the many idiots that post on this sight 10 times a day with nothing to say. Witt's happy? You have to be the jerk off at the games with the gold hair and dirty Ranger jersey. Get a job so your family doesn't have to keep supporting you. Try an intelligent response with some independent thought instead of the simple minded one liners that can be rebutted by a two year old. Great at parties? You must like being the butt of everyone's joke when the hockey discussion comes up. To all of those great hockey minds on this site, enjoy the circus. This is a great team. Hilarious fools.

Gordon coach of the year 2009-2010? Maybe, Snow GM of the year? Maybe, then again maybe not on both counts. What matters is this; let’s wait and see what this team brings to the table next season. Let’s see if this year’s meaningless wins become meaningful next season. Let’s judge then! You are right we have been sold on a bad plan over the last decade, no thanks to Millbury and Maloney. I however saw this team build through the draft in the early 70’s and will wait to pass judgment at this time. If in fact next year our “super kids” get sent to other places, THEN you will be completely, 100% right. It will have been a complete smokescreen and at that time I will join you in lambasting the entire organization. Until then, the jury is still out. Go Isles in 2009-2010!!!!
