I hate to admit it but your right we don't have a "centerpiece" Okposo looks good but he's on the shelf for a month and he's still trying to find his place on the team.A first round pick doesn't always pan out you guy's traded for Lindros and that experiment didn't workout. We got Tambellini and he was expected to step up and that hasn't worked out for us.Something gotta give.

Lets Go Isles wrote: <quoted text> Ok, perhaps you need get a clue and follow the team more closely. Jackman although labeled an "enforcer" has clearly stated, on a number of occasion, that he does not want to be labeled an enforcer. He has made a strong effort to work on his playmaking and scoring ability. He will drop the gloves when needed but wants to be known more than just an enforcer. Hence, enter Mitch Fritz. He gets few minutes but when he's out there his mission is to make his physical presence felt and to ensure the kids are not being roughed up. He did just that last night. If the team's poor play bothers you so much and you can't bear to watch Fritz play then it's simple what you have to do...don't watch them. Stop with your whining...and go cheer for some other team. We're not going to be relevant for the next couple of years. Dear "lets go isles" #1 - See my response to Battfish regarding Fritz & Jackman. #2 - No sh*t they are not going to be relevant for the next couple of years. They have an injured goaltender who's amount of talent doesn't even come close to the size of his ego. DiPietro is not the answer to this team (too bad we're stuck with him). They play in a dungeon that no one wants to come play in. Their owner is a lunatic. Do I need to say more? I followed this team since the early 70s and even when things were bad, you saw promise. I can't say I see any promise with the team at this point. However, unlike other people who jump off and on bandwagons, I at least remain loyal. However, that doesn't mean I don't have the absolute right to complain about the team or the organization.

I agree totally Fritz stinks, he provides no offense which is what the team kinda needs bring up someone with offense like Joensuu or Smith. I also think that the Islanders should fire Gordon and get Laviolette back. We had a 9-0-0-1 starting record with him and he got us in the playoffs. Fire Gordon and get a real coach, someone that can actually help us win.
Another thing, I'm sick of hearing about this Lighthouse all the time, either build the thing or not, Im sick of hearing that no good players want to come play here because of it. It's not the arena its the team, if we could stop losing and actually win, players would come.
One more thing, Im a huge Sean Bergenheim fan, he's the only good 1st round player that we haven't traded. Every game I feel like he's the only one who's producing offence for us and is hardly ever injured unlike half our players. The Isles should give him a 5 year contract or maybe more. Get rid of these useless players like Sim, Comrie, or Fritz and let Bergie get his 20 goal season he deserves.
And please trade Comrie I can't take anymore of his bad passes or circling the ice on powerplays and losing the puck.
LETS GO ISLES!!!

But who cares how long you've been a fan. I hate that garbage I've been a fan for this many years blah blah blah. Who cares. All I'm saying is I respectfully disagree with you that the team as it stands has no promise. I see a tremedous amount of talent and it's called Bridgeport. We are establishing great depth and have many future prospects to come. As long as we stick to the "plan," or whatever you want to call this debacle, it'll eventually come together. Then we can all say we were there back in the day blah blah if that's what suits ya!. LOL

I agree, even if they come in last it's not like the Isles get nothing out of it, they get a great player, the top pick in this years draft is supposed to be better than Crosby I hear.

Or even better - send Fritz to the NBA, he's got the height for it; certainly doesn't have true hockey talent. Cote could have easily been handled by Jackman. Wow, please do not tell me you believe that Jackman is on a par with Riley Cote, in the fisticuffs dept? Cote is perhaps one of the top 3 best, and toughest fighters in the league, Jackman is not even a good middleweight,Jackman would have been nothing but a punching bag for Cote, and ive been watching fighting for over 50 years,in the ring, and on the ice.

Fellow Isles fans... Snow took a stand at the draft last year...we are going with a youth movement. No one said it was going to be easy at first. Lets give Snow some credit-he looks like he did a good job at the draft.
Time to lower our rosters average age..."spring cleaning" has come early.
I agree with most of the comments on DP...but lets be real when is on he is better then Joey Mac.
Dnt blame Gordon for this season. He's still trying to find the players on this roster that he can use to execute his system...
Go Isles!
To the guy who said the Isles should move...I hope you dnt call yourself an Isles fan.

The whole lighthouse thing and the argument that players wont come to LI because the colliseums a bung hole does not hold water at all. How many of you fans have ever been to the Joe in detroit? WOW talk about a crap hole!! And yes I was there for a wings game in 2007. I swear that place makes the colliseum look like a new arena. Check out any pic from the last cup celebration and note the scoreboard. I remember that same one hanging at the colliseum in the 90's! If you have center ice on tv look at the seats, yes they are even older than the ones we have. I almost fell on my face going up the steps in joe louis because i failed to notice the crumbling concrete beneath my feet! Success comes from the people running the show, not the building they play in. How many players are running to go play in St louis or Phoenix or LA or Minnesota or Florida. These all have new or relatively new arenas with fancy luxurious amenities, yet are steady bottom feeders or built for 8th place teams in the nhl. Yes fire Gordon. Any team which takes a 9-2 beating from any team in sports, and doesnt stand up and drop the gloves not once needs to re-asses management, as well as the so called talent. The only talent there are the two former all stars guerin and weight. BTW the lighthouse is in final approvals and waiting on the towns sub-division assesments on traffic and water. It will be approved by late spring.

When the other team is celebrating hatricks by jumping up and down on the ice-next time their on the ice-you take care of it.
