What a waste of ink and paper. Newsday should stick to the real news. If this was real news why is newsday only one crying foul..To bad long islanders don't have a fare and balanced that gives you 2 sides of a story and not the one sided point of view of a few crying iclander fans...

"One thing is clear: Lundqvist's refusal to move while the crease was cleared during the first period was wrong."

No where is it mandated by the NHL that goalies have to leave the crease for a cleaning. I challenge anyone to find it in the official rule book. If it was, referees would have intervened to remove the King from his post. Newsday, you absolutely suck you left wing, liberal spewing crotch licking, Islander loving newsrag!!

Lundqvist never moves from the crease during TV timeouts, no matter what arena he's in or who is trying to clear the ice around him, whether it's men wearing warm up suits who make their living tending the ice in the arena or skimpily dressed, make-up and body glitter covered young girls. There has never been an issue with his choice to stay in the crease in any of his previous games, so why now? Maybe if the Coliseum had more mature employees on the ice in direct contact with the athletes instead of overly sensitive little girls this would not be an issue. The amount and level (2 page color spread and the front cover?) of coverage Newsday gave to this irrelevant, juvenile story (while putting the story of the British soldiers returing from Iran on the next page in black and white) is disgraceful and an indication of the low level of respect this sport receives. And by the way, Old Line MD Isles? There is absolutely NO comparison of what Chris Simon did to Hollweg and the crying Ice Girls complaint, and the fact that you deemed to make it seem like they are in the same category of wrongfulness only shows your incredibly low level of intelligence,(which clearly explains why you're an Islander fan!)

Very simple... Either it's a rule to clean the crease at certain time intervals, such as smoothing the dirt in baseball or it's the team's option not to have it cleaned. If the league makes it a rule to clean it, then there should be a delay of game penalty issued when a goalie does not clear the crease. If not a rule, the visiting team should formally state their choice of cleaning or not cleaning the crease before the game. That's it! Simple!

If Chris Simon did not get prosecuted then why would Henrik for something that was blown so out of proportion for publicity and to try to tarnish his rep.
