I'll admit I'm not an Isles fan, but this has to be one of their more idiotic ideas to date if they really want him back. Give the younger kids a chance and rebuild instead of wasting away more millions on that bum.

They must be kidding. They over-paid him to begin with. If anything Yashin owes the Isles money. To even consider bringing him back and paying him more is ludicrous. And the Isles wonder why they are a laughing stock around the NHL.

Getting Yashin back would be the equivalent of a number one pick in the draft.

If he is healthy he gets a minimum of 30 goals. Where else will the Islanders find that kind of production?

They are talking about a youth movement and they have no youth who has anymore than average scoring ability.

Pay Yashin, show him some respect and he will produce.

And let us not forget that we gave up Chara who became one of the best defensemen in the league and the number one pick in the draft for him who became Jason Spezza. This trade is known in Canada as one of the biggest steals in the history of the NHL. Another Mike Milbury special.

Maybe getting him back will change that a little bit.

I say sign him. There is nothing to lose. Yashin has a lot to prove & I believe he would come through & add to the monster team being built right now. Sign him & silence the morons around the world who don't believe. LETS GO ISLANDERS.
& on a separate note......Dina is a wuss.

Bringing that lazy guy back sends a bad message to the fans. Even if he would score 60 points for the team (though I'd highly doubt it) I still don't want him. Let's continue to go forward , not backward. Trading for him handcuffed the Islanders for years. Though I commend Garth Snow for taking a shot, unfortunately the Smyth trade has done the same. I say stay the current course with the youth movement, pray Kyle Okposo can continue to develop sooner than later and spend any money you were going to consider throwing away on Yashin to a decent free agent.

Why is it so idiotic? You hate him bc Milbury paid him way more than he was worth...that isnt Yashin's fault...he was who he was. A goal scorer who happened to play soft. Management already knew that when they signed him. So how is it his fault to collect the huge paycheck he received? Any player would do the same thing. I have had it with the hate he gets from fans...if you wanna blame someone blame Milbury for making the move...not Yashin, who played the same game he's always played, just for more money bc it was offered to him. I want him back. He would score points and thats that. Get over your unnecessary hatred of a nice guy. No one could play to the standards of the money he was given...no one...except maybe Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin...two of them are Russians btw...for those that think its a Russian thing.

Excuse me, Alexi... The man who helped you score that last time on the Islanders is playing now in Toronto. Tell Gandler to go talk to Fletcher. Bye bye.

I really think Yash should go play with Blake in Toronto. If they could get him, it would be great for Blake- who they are stuck with regardless. Might as well make him productive again!

I usually just post on the blog ... but I had to post a comment on this forum.

I have to agree with the Pro-Yashin posters that say it isn't Yashin's fault Milbury over paid him. However you have to wonder if Yashin's asking price was higher than what MM offered during negotiations ... we don't know that so that being said. Yashin didn't deliver.

I really believe that Yashin was re-emerging under Nolan until his injury. I think maybe Yashin returned too early and aggrevated his injury. I also have wondered if both Yashin and Blake benefitted from each other's play.

I think since that Yashin had contacted Snow about coming back it's pre-mature to criticize Snow about this whole issue. Snow isn't willing to pay the higher price so he's doing the right thing. I'd consider ... that is consider taking Yashin back at $3M ... because as far as I'm concerned ... that is the highest value I believe he's worth. He's 35 now and playing in Russia and being a star there is one thing ... but being a star in the NHL is another thing all together different. Offer $1.5M in total bonuses if he can attain them and play his way back to what he thinks he's worth.

Nobody else in the NHL would give him $4M unless they were desperate.

Besides ... he's still collecting $$$ from the Isles .. so he's not hurting. He wants back in ... take $3M plus bonuses .... or have fun in Russia.

This is comical, wow, once again the Isles Management show why this team will never compete and should sell and be moved to KC or Vegas. Go Isles.

As Mars turns retro, emotional tension makes you feel as though you're walking on eggshells. The temperature has risen by several notches, making the situation at home more fraught. Better to clear the air quickly and cleanly than to sulk and brood in ways that simply prolong the agony.
