A sad commentary and so far, no reply to the question posed here last week.
Steve Gorten??
He is always late with his Panther stuff, and lazy as a person could be..
He must be starting a new job soon..Mike Russo makes this Gorten look bad..Mike was smart and left for a Sports/Hockey oriented paper..

Stanley,
As the team is winning, I regret to inform you, your services are no longer needed. If you wish to continue to perform with no compensation, we would be willing to negotiate.
See Yormark on your way out.
Maybe we could get you a deal on tickets, say buy 10 - get 1 free.

Sadly it's a west coast swing we might not see. I didn't check the Center Ice schedule, but FSN isn't broadcasting those games.
Thankfully Center Ice will have it - and I will get to see it in the comfort of my home.

No return on Vokoun? Did you see how many times he opened and shut the door for shifts the other night? Anderson is now .947 save average, number 1 in the NHL and 3rd in GAA. As many said, the next 10 games is the true direction of this team.

Read George Richards' column in the Herald. He says (regarding DeBoer's playing of Anderson over Vokoun) that "there are a few people in the Florida front office not too happy to be seeing $5-plus million sitting on the bench, though."
If Richards wrote it, you have to believe that the front office does indeed have the potential to stick its nose into who DeBoer puts into the lineup. The best thing that can happen is for Cohen, Yormack and Martin to lose DeBoer's phone number and email address.
As for marketing by Yormack, I'd debate that with you. Yes, he and his key people (Pedro Gonvalves and Chad Johnson) are bringing in great money for the building and SSE in general, but not such a good job building the fan base and filling the building with paying fans in attendance. That is the two-headed monster that is SSE.
Which brings you back to the Vokoun issue. Senior management can't be happy to see that their $5 million annual investment in Vokoun is not generating any return while he sits on the bench. It leaves them in no-man's land, unable to market to the public the #2 goalie (as there is potential risk in Anderson being able to be a true #1, plus the effect on Vokoun on making such a public move) and unable to market Vokoun while he sits on the bench.
Finally, let me remind you that the unhappiness of many "naysayers" with respect to ownership and senior management is something that is the product of 8-plus years of frustration caused by an endless string of bad GM and coach hirings, questionable player personnel moves and some games that have been played with season ticket holders and perceived broken promises. 5, 10 and even 20 game winning streaks don't erase that. The only thing that will erase it is proof through longer term success that ownership and senior management have finally figured out how to properly run a hockey franchise. Right now the record doesn't support that, regardless of the win streak or even the hiring of DeBoer (which was a lone brilliant move in a sea of failures).

I don't recall that link having been there since the start of the season, and I think even further back than that. I think they took it out many months ago.

A likely reason is that the Sun Sentinel doesn't think the Panthers are a major story. Hey, the PB Post even stopped coverage of the team altogether, now using instead wire service stories.

I asked the Sun Sentinel to remove the link so we could continue to rebuild without much fanfare. After 8 years, you don't want to broadcast your record too loud to those who may still think we are a playoff team. Now that Deboer has thrown out my system and showing progress, I might ask them to put the link back up. Everyone wants to be with a winner and if it sells tickets, it's another Saveology save all the way to the bank. Thanks Alan for your continued support.

That guy's pretty funny.
I guess when you haven't won a playoff series in 13 years, it's a little hard to have a sense of humor.

My son is 13, Panthers haven't won a playoff series in his lifetime.

Think about that.

And haven't been in the playoffs since he was 5 (doesn't remember, and really doesn't care).
That is a shame.

Yes, Yormarks Observer is a know-nothing who posts the same garbage over and over---it was old and stale the first day he posted it.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aquarius

You won't like it if you feel your wings are being clipped today. You want to do something in particular, only to discover that someone is objecting to your plans or that circumstances beyond your control are standing in your way. Although your instincts tell you to throw a tantrum to get your point across, you must ask yourself what this will achieve, and whether it will actually be self-defeating.
