This is what you are going to see from this team on a nightly basis:
Forechecking all night long. In your face hockey that is going to bring down the next opinion significantly.
Shots against much lower than previous years. Two games, 21.5 shots allowed per. its only two preseason games, but the in your face pressure and improved defense is going to put us in the middle of the pack this season, as far as shots against are concerned. This will be key to the teams success this season.
This is what we are going to see, a lot of low scoring games where we will rely on our defense, goaltending, and pressure to win. I think if this team is close come the deadline, Martin will make a move to improve the offense. But unlike some of the morons who come here and obviously know little about the sport, this team wont have trouble scoring goals. I just cant wait for the third/fourth quarter of the season, when the team is sitting in a playoff spot, what these idiots will have to say about them then. They probably wont even show up.

The defense and goaling should be strong, but the team is not very talented overall in comparison to the top teams. If the team maintains its discipline and patience and works hard every game, the Panthers might make the playoffs. The new coach must help the team master discipline board work and transitional offense which is the only way this team can score enough goals to win games.

No one WANTS this team to fail, dip sh/t. But when they play inconsistent and make dumb off-season moves, someone has to voice their opinion and call them out. I don't see where the offense will come from, especially since it relies on Horton the most now and he admits to taking nights off. Does that make you comfortable? If they are in a playoff spot come March, you won't find much bickering here. Plain and simple.

Don't worry gyro breath. I'll be around to rub it in your face just like I've done the last 8 seasons when I correctly forecasted the team would be out of the playoff hunt before January. Opa!

No contempt prior to investigation Red Baron-panthers have improved but rest of teams have improved too-best case 3rd in division.Announcers saiD Bouwmeester will not sign-get rid of him for a good offensive player in January.Playoffs possible in 2 years not next year.Matthias is a player as is Booth.

Its good to see they have some fire in them, I guess its just a matter of how long that fire will stick around. Its one thing to be playing against kids who will no-doubt spend the season in the minors, its a totally different situation when you are playing against the top guys on the road night in and night out. People don't fight in overtime when it counts, and they darn sure don't instigate it.

Panthers always do well in preseason just like they always do well when they are out of playoffs. It's always the games that don't count that they show up for. Nothing has changed including those that fall for the hype.

Lets just all agree they look pretty decent these first 120 minutes, almost as advertised, great goal and D, mediocre on offense, with a potential upside. Again, 20 games...then my title takes over.

Again, 20 games...then my title takes over. Playing essentially "grapefruit league" hockey with split squads all around, yeah, they look pretty decent. But's hardly meaningful, except for seeing a few individual players show their stuff. So far, Matthias is demonstrating that he's ready for prime time and Bouwmeester is clearly looking to make it known that he's ready to post some bigger offensive numbers. Two very nice positive factors, but again, it's only split squad preseason games.

The team is looking much tougher than last years. I have to admit that. So far-so good.

The Panthers are looking really good. Why would you want to attack your team before the season even gets started? You sure aren't much of a hockey fan.

ONly thing I am worried about is 2 power playes in OT, that is 4 on 3... LOTS and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of ICE...
also 0 for 14 on PPs in 2 games. When did the Panthers get 14 PPs in 10 games last season?
Seemed that they got penalized 14 times in 2 games multiple times.
IMPROVE ON THE PP or there will be NO PLAYOFFS !!!

keep an open mind,be positive. and we will all see as the real games commence. I still feel they were a playoff quality team last year except for the coaching. New fiery coach, new attitude,no Captain Jokinen in the room. We will see........
