Bloodroot owner longs for return of cherished bag

Selma Miriam, sits at one of the spinning wheels in her Westport home. Miriam was the victim of a robbery at the Bloodroot restaurant, she co-owns in Bridgeport.

Such a shameful act, committed by a coward - to be so desperate as to steal from a group of innocent women having a meal together. I hope to God he gets caught, and I hope too that the bag is recovered. Ms. Miriam, as brave as she was, is very lucky that he didn't harm her. I hope the bag is retrieved, and this wonderful restaurant does not have to experience such a violation ever again.

Some people are now more desperate than ever. What a creep, but I guess he figured these unassuming women were easy prey. I wonder what would have happened if he went to a local bar mostly frequented by men, for sure he wouldn't have gotten away easily, if at all.

To bad the little lady didn't have her legal fire arm with her. She could have done a great deed by preventing the next robbery that this man will undoubtedly perform. The Bpt PD are unlikely to solve this crime or prevent the next one. The only recourse in today's society is to protect yourself.

This place,Bloodroot, is on the outskirts of PT Barnum projects.If I was going there,I'd be packing a .45 with hollow points.The old lady at the minimum should carry mace or pepper spray.That would have stopped this punk

Bloodroot is an excellent restaurant with some of the most creative dishes served in Fairfield County thanks to the talents of Selma. The restaurant is also accepting of everyone who walks through the door. If you haven't been there, you should make plans to get there. You will not be disappointed. Don't let a story like this keep you away. Robberies happen in all types of places these days.

I can't stand lesbian politics,(which occasionally rears it's head at the Bloodroot) but the Bloodroot is a real gem in that the food is fantastic. You leave the place feeling invigorated, the food is so healthy.
Anyone who doubts that vegetarian food is tasty, is proven wrong every day by this restaurant.

I still haven't decided whether vegetarians taste better though. I need to sample some more.

To be robbed so brazenly is horrible, I am just glad no one was injured more than an arm cut. Kudos to Ms. Miriam for her courage, and I hope you get your bag back!

I'm a neighbor who has dined there many times. I'm aware that these forums bring out the worst in the insensate shut-ins who seem to comment most frequently, but these wonderful, peaceful women, who've run this landmark restaurant for decades, should not be further victimized by anonymous idiots.

The police say they have a good idea who the lowlife who did this is. Go get him guys, and the state's attorney will put him back in prison where he belongs.

i remember this woman when she was selma bunks, the wife of an attorney named abe bunks and they lived in westport, she got liberated and wanted to be on her own but she also took a big chunk of abes money. i guess she only wanted to be liberated from him and not his money. she was also a very dividing and confrontational force in n.o.w. in westport.
