Start taking pay cuts you greedy state officials. After a while you cant get blood out of turnips.
Start spending our tax money on things that realy matter not on personal items like a lot of you crooks are doing.

Wht are people crying for those delinquent on taxes? It isn't like they did not know they were there. If you cannot pay, you make arrangements don't just ignore them. Take some responsibility and quit trying to get everyone else to pay your tab.

Get off your butts and pay your bills you deadbeats!!

Where to start...The state says they don't want to get people mad @ them for not doing their duty...so they say let the locals handle it. Talk about ABDICATING RESPONSIBILITY...This is 'fast Eddie's' legacy. Remember what he "promised" w/ the gambling casinos, "we're going to use the revenues to fix this problem". I wonder if he knows how to spell lie. Re Surtech & Dave Gotwalt...he's an honorable man. He publicly tells people he's having a hard time, but he responsibly has worked out a payment program to reduce his tax bill. A tip-o-the-hat to him! What about Pasch...what's he doing? I think the laws should be strengthened to have bench warrants issued against these people. The difference between Gotwalt & Pasch is character & honesty. Corbett should get his act together & go after the Maryland firm. Altieri Enterprises is involved w/ interstate commerce & as such should be treated as someone a lot more serious than others. Andrew Lentz is the classic example of having the citizens of York County float his business...be his bank where he doesn't have to pay interest... & consequently, can thumb his nose while leaving on the hook for $149K. The inefficiencies of gov't & letting this stuff go on & on w/ out seriously going after the ones that don't care is why people get so mad!

Very well put especially about the Surtech owner. He realized there was a problem and he took steps to correct the problem. I honestly respect him for that and if I had anything that needed to be powder coated, you can bet he would get my business. I appreciate his integrity.

From 1999 to present day his taxes have gone from 19K to 70K? We all know the government is crooked. If that's true I'd let people dump their construction debris and automotive waste there, board the place up and walk. Let the county deal with it then.

Made improvements to your property and it's worth more? F.U. pay me.

Economy not doing so hot and your just keeping your head above water?
F.U. pay me.

Property depreciation just wipe out your equity?
F.U. pay me.

My property taxes have gone from 3500 to 5000 since 2005. My property value is unchanged.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if the British won the war.

I have lived in my home for 21yrs. I owe $8,000 in property taxes. I was told since i paid a payment late I couldn't make another payment agreement. So in May my property was sold for $8,000 ! Now i'm waiting for someone to tell me when I have to be move. Its not fair especially for those of us living on SSD.

And that all could have been avoided if you swallowed your pride and sold the place before you lost it. Stubborness and stupidity are not viable excuses. If you cannot afford it, get the hell out of it before you lose it. There were plenty of times you could have remedied the situation before the sherrifs sale.

And the rest of us have magical money trees somewhere? I work 2 jobs and if I need more money I cannot get it. What am I supposed to do? Tell my boss I want more. The laughter will escort me from his office so do not pull the fixed income crap on me. I know better.

glad to see human services can hold their heads above water while another record foreclosure on property (that's supposed to be private) is just around the corner . we have allowed our selfserving government to stick it's nose in places where churches and charities belong and they do a much better job without taking out of the economy or putting any burden on the rest of us . nobody , no matter how much they have owes the government the amounts of moneys they are confiscating from the private sector to build a bigger nanny government and in doing so forcing more and more to rely on some kind of program . will it end before everything is bankrupt or conficated ? remember there might be a program right around the corner waiting for you to be forced into !

I sincerely hope you are looking into a mirror as you rant. WE are the government. WE demand more and more. We want all the best. This stuff does not come free. It all has to be paid for somehow. If you do not like the way the governement is run, run for office, contact your local legislator. Do something other than whine on some podunk newspaper forum. Your words here are about as useful as a fart in a hurricane.

are we really the government ? "we demand more" ... speak for yourself ! the stuff that "has to be paid for somehow" is breaking those paying ... when they're gone who's going to pay ? what are you doing here on this "podunk newspaper forum" , no work ?
using your own logic are your words worth anything ?

They have the same value as your words, absolutely none. The things WE demand are all the non essentials like police, fire, EMS. These things are truly necessary. What about the cute little playground at the end of the block? How about the old people center across the way? The scumbag collecting welfare? Good luck getting the people to agree to a cut in these things. Each and every day, there is some new desire brought forth by a member of the public that wants funded. I am sure I could name a bunch that you personally think are indispensable. All these programs cost money and the money comes from?
Let me give you a clue, taxes. You and me. Until such a time as we can learn to say no to these programs, we will need to raise taxes. What about the representatives themselves? They get a pay raise every year unless they specifically vote to not get one. What a self serving group!
Eventually we will reach a point where there are o longer any new source of revenue available and then we will have to start cutting.
As to your comment about a job, yes I actually have 2 jobs. Both are in the public sector> I am employed in one of the "non essential" services I listed, I just work different hours than most.

We have leeches in York too. The superintendents of schools who are stealing those taxes for their own greed. Let's use that money for our children.

I would like to know why these people are driving around in cars if they can`t pay their taxes? I would like to see the State look into their funds to see how they can afford the fancy (OH LOOK AT ME CARS!!) when there aer schools cutting teachers we need for our children, medical expences for our elderly. I feel if the state could collect their valuble assets they would pay their taxes like the rest of us do.The state could also look into having them serve time in jail for unpaid taxes.

Mr. Lentz shall SELL his house or other assets so he is able to pay his taxes. He shall rent a house until he is able to afford having a house and a business again. It's very simple.

I have a newer BMW and I'm on unemployment. I have about 4.5K a month in expenses and what unemployment doesn't cover I pay for out of my (quickly evaporating) savings. With only 1.5K a month income it would make sense to ditch the $500 a month BMW payment right? Maybe, except then I wouldn't have any transportation. Without a job I won't qualify for a loan to buy a cheaper vehicle and I don't have enough savings to buy a decent vehicle without a loan.

I tried to have my $500 monthly child support reduced due to my bad stroke of luck, but in the end I walked out with it being RAISED by $50! WTF! Mother is a "full time online college student" without a job. You want to see a broken and biased system? Try looking at the Child Support system.

True! Child Support system sucks! I pay it to my ex, but never can claim in my taxes that I have a dependent child. All developed countries in the world are giving you a tax credit for having a dependent, US doesn't if the primary custody is not yours. So you don't get a chance to share the child, but you have to share the expense of raising a child :( I don't understand that. Is it fair?

Mr. Lentz knows how to "play" the system, therefore he gets to keep it all (for now) eventually his luck will run out, in the meantime what a great advertisement for the vendors of Morningstar Market, they must be so pleased with him for they are the ones paying him the rent for a market that is not kept up or improved, they must be wondering why all of that rent money is not going towards paying the taxes, because anyone can see that there is enough money coming in, the bills just aren't being paid.....poor management perhaps?
