He just said he's writing in Gaelic - well, very useful information - nobody would have known and besides his Gaelic is lousy.

I'm not going to play this game with you Sean - when you want to talk - I'm right here but we will talk in a language every other reader is able to understand.

Take it or go on hiding behind your twisted Gaelic - nobody cares.

Don't know what's going on with this thread but this is the first time I have posted to it. My comment is...I hope the new Pub will take LOCAL CHECKS to show that they are "local friendly" and really do want our business. I don't go into 2 businesses here anymore because my local money was not good enough for them...they only wanted out of town cash or credit. One owner said to me, "Well, it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the barrel for all of us" (bad checks. I told her it didn't spoil anything for me because I wouldn't be coming in her place any more.........and I haven't now for 3 years.

This is nonsense. The only reason to write a check at a bar is because you don'y have money in your account. Either cash a check or get a debit card. Local business do not need to take checks that might bounce. It is easier for you to take care of this this than the businesses to take a loss. FYI, they don't like out of town checks any better.

ruigal- Carry around a little cash dear. That would solve the problem for both wouldn't it?

When the losers that write the bad checks burn the biz folks one too many times they say enough.

Where'd you get writing a check at a "bar"? A Pub is not a bar, by the way. Go to England and you will see what a pub really is.
And I say again, if you want local business, keep the locals happy. This just proves my point...locals are not considered important at most businesses in town but still they want us to be "loyal" to them. Why, for goodness sake?

Yes, I too am greatly dismayed at local establishments that will not honor honest money. Specifically, I have encountered problems with my gold nuggets. I have worked hard and panned in the mountains for my precious ore, and yet when I present my loot to the bar man at The Win Place and Show, or even Farley's they look at me like I'm crazy.

I realize that when I come in from the camp I am slightly disheveled and somewhat odoriferous, but my money is still valid. I have even tried to use my silver, with the same poor results. Not even the famed Mexican peseta is honored! Clearly there is discrimination taking place, on an epic scale.

On that note, I would also like to raise the issue of hitching posts. How is one supposed to secure their animal without these posts? I realize that many of you with your fancy horseless carriages do not require them (this is the same crowd that favors so-called "paper money" over bouillon), but the rest of us are greatly inconvenienced and forced to use trees and the like. I demand satisfaction on the aforementioned articles before I will set foot in the new pub!
